Hi Admins - before you punt this to Optics, I'm asking the folks here because of their extensive experience with black rifles and sight/optics options....

A question to those in the know:

I've got a new-to-me Tavor (it's Gen 1) and the Mepro ML21 Reflex sight appears to not be working very well - I get a small dot in the middle, but no circle like in the pictures in the Tavor thread.

That said, I don't think I have any warranty options with the sight and am now looking for either a reflex or red-dot style sight to replace. I have the DlaskArms picatinny rail so mounting shouldn't be too difficult.

I've looked at Trijicon and Aimpoint and EOTech and each have a great offering. If anyone has experience with these products and could make some suggestions, I would really appreciate it as these sights are not cheap.

Thoughts?

Being a bullpup design I would be inclind to say a holo sight with a FTS would be the best bet for one of these rig's although my friend did put a 3-9x40mm compact scope on it and was quite impressed with it's accuracy at 300 + meter's.

fts???

I don't think they're is a "best" optic for any given black rifle. There is however, a best optic for "you".
It would really help if you listed what you want to use the optic for? Tac rifle, range gun, medium range sniping, gropher slayer, ect.. ect..

I am running a dual setup on mine

1) Kept the Mepro, may look into magnifier options for it, we shall see.

2) Sightron 4.5-14 on a quick detach base

Both hold zero being swapped back and forth, and can be done in about 5 seconds, I also put a stud in the hole in the grip, in case i wish to throw a bipod on it at one point

This is more for short range (200 yds and less) - I like the idea of the reflex sight, but do realize that a reflex will only get you so far anyways, so the combination of a reflex with a 3x or 5x with a FTS mount is appealing.

I was considering the Aimpoint M4 with add'l sight or an EoTech with an add'l sight, but the Trijicon reflex is also appealing with a magnifier. The choices are endless!

I was hoping to get feedback from other's experiences with these styles of optics/sights and their recommendations. ie. Sight X worked, but I really would get Mount Y if I could do it over and why.

Hope that helps....

I agree with Satain, since he mentioned it first, a holo sight with a magnifier. You'll have the best worlds of a CQB weapon and a battle rifle. Putting a long range fixed scope on it will kill the bullpup purpose which it was designed for.

I have the new railed version, the BUIS sits inside the rail, to use it the scope has to come off (I will be using an ADM scout mount for this), if I mount the Mepro all the way to the front of the rail then the BUIS can be deployed without removing it but not if a magnifier is installed on the back part of the rail.

Im in the same boat. I have an eotech and might get a magnifier, or might sell it and a couple other things and buy an elcan spectre DR.

I dunno yet.

Mrsmitty and blaxsun are running spectres on their tavors.

Note, please don't comment on the scope mount missing pieces, it was mounted for a test and will be replaced by an ADM scout.

Added, I left most pics as links (for less bandwidth), click on the pic for a close-up.
