Hey all, going to tap the collective wisdom here.

I have an uncle who's eyes are fading, but still needs to pop the odd gopher or maggie on his farm.

Standard open sights aren't an option for him anymore, and even peep sights are a bit tough. He can't even use a scope anymore, because his astigmatism causes the dreaded "black ring" around most of the crosshair.

Would it be better to set him up with a Red Dot, or fibre-optic open sights? I want to rig up one of my .22 bolts for him with sights he can actually use.

If anyone here has fought the same issues I'm describing and come up with a solution, let me know.

(I'm leaning towards a Red Dot, but worry a bit about the whole battery syndrome - I have a feeling once the battery dies, he won't replace it and won't bother to let anyone know about it - cranky, old, to ornery to ask for help, you know, an all around great old fella).

I can't remember who makes it by last year there was a sight being talked about that had a triangle and a bar below it. Seemed simple enough, super easy to see and best of all, no batteries. It was called the "see all". I have not used it myself, but looks like it might be the ticket.

My eyes are great but i want that, take my money now!
A friend of mine got over the same problem you have with a bushnell holo sight bit its like a brick on the gun compared to that thing.

Thanks for the advice. I keep forgetting about the See All. Known about them for a while, and it's on my "want to try" list.

I'll order one and try it out.
