Best out of the box 1911 under $1000.00

I'm a big fan of the Para's. No idea what these few haters are talking about.

I'm not a Para hater, per se, more like a very jaded ex-Para owner. I owned a SSP and although it was accurate and reliable the finish was thin, it shot low out of the box and the slide stop started peening after 200 rounds. Got no satisfaction dealing with their "customer service" department but I did learn the meaning of "Para-normal". Para considers peening at the slide stop to be "normal" even though the peening on my SSP had raised a burr sharp enough to slice your thumb. My DW PM7 was about $100 more than what the SSP cost and it's easily 2-3x better in terms of durability, materials/parts used and fit and finish. And guess what? No peening at the slide stop after close to 1000 rounds. Same goes for my Wilson Combat, Colt and a lowly Norinco Police. I've spoken to some very disappointed Para owners at my range. I'll admit that the dissatisfaction lay with the single stack models, namely the SSP and LTC models. YMMV......

Todd Jarrett could out-shoot most of us with an old Crossman pellet pistol.:p

Or a box stock USGI 1911A1............. ;)

PS. Personally, I don't care for Paras.
