Best place in on Onterrible for pistol purchase?

I've bought at Al Simmons Gun Shop in Hamilton quite a few times. Prices aren't great but selection was good at the time and the customer service is generally outstanding (there's a few dinks working there, but there's dinks everywhere). If it's going to be your first handgun, I highly recommend going to a shop where you can walk in and handle the different models. I find Al Simmons' staff are extremely tolerant and helpful with people who are groping everything in the case, whereas at other shops they treat you like you're wasting their time. It also helps that the gun are actually in a display case instead of having to ask for models, then having a guy disappear into the back to retrieve them like handguns are some shady industry entirely separate from shotguns and rifles.

Thanks for all of the replies unfortunatly I cannot go to a store and handle them. I live in Northwestern Ontario...........soooooo. I looked at a few sites and now looking for the best price on a GSG 1911. Looked at the Williams site and to be honest not impressed at all. First impression of the website not good and there prices aren't special either.

Most gun shops don't have current listings on their gun inventory. Drove to Williams Arms about a week ago, great bunch of guys, I'd call.

Williams arms is the way to go. I have been after these guys to spend some money on there website. they have been rocking the same homemade site since 2004. I also have told them to get on cgn but they are old school. that aside.... best shop around. highly recommend them. great prices and good staff.

In that case why limit yourself to just places in Ontario? I'm not asking that to be a ####, I don't know much about buying guns online.

Pick the gun you want and buy it from whomever has it.

Followup service on a pistol is usually done at home with a cleaning kit.Its not like you are buying a car and need a good service department.
Don't give too much thought to buying the right one. Most of us cycle through about 10-20 handguns before settling on the one we really like.

Fortunately guns are NOT like women....if you don't get the right one to begin with it WON'T cost you a fortune to get rid of it and try another. really, at most you will be out a few hundred dollars, and no heart ache.

Rivtec and Dizzy thanks for the advice, going to order the GSG from Wolverine in the morning. Answered my unless e-mails very quickly and seem to be great folks!
Thanks for all the advice guys!

Wolverine is one of the best dealers in Canada, you made great choice.

Since you are not going to make purchase in person, there is no need to limit yourself to Ontario dealers, as previously noted.

Congratulations on your new firearm!

People are forgetting to mention how small they are and the limited stock.
Nice people....but the O.P wants to buy a pistol. Not visit and have tea.

Eh?

Sorry , but they seem to always have a decent selection. Always stuff in the case that's hasn't quite made it on to the website. I always go see John before checking anywhere else.

Nothing wrong with a dealer friendly enough to stop by with some tea and have a visit.
