Yeap, just moved in with the gf she would like me to have one. I won't miss my chance. I want to buy one that will last me a lifetime. So, I has to be pretty large, but it still needs to go down the stairs.... I thought of a Browning BR34F but I am not sure anymore. Anyways, if you know a good place to buy let me know. I always like to see and touch before I buy, but I might just not be able this time since it's always special order.....

Feedback on various models would also be appreciated. Price has to be under 2500 (3000 top), but the lower the better.

Cheers,

I don't know if you are close to the border? but Sam's club have a nice Winchester model. Around $700 bucks.

Thanks looch, I've been checking lespac for quite some time now, but I keep checking 2-3 times a day.

I went to Costco in the past and they only had one ''long-gun model and it was pretty narrow. I'll take a look asap.

Mildot I'll pm you.

Go pay a visit to Costco. They have just received a small shipment of HONEYWELL safes, that are not listed on their website. The price is crazy, it<s like 399$ for a 800$ anti-fire safe. Best bang for the buck right now! Not much anti-fire but a nice safe for the price...

Either I am crazy or a lot of gun safes circulating in the Canadian market (CT, Bass pro, costco, Brawning........) are actually the same models, made by the same Chinese manufacturer!

I keep seeing my 16 gun stack-on safe everywhere, but with different paint, name tags and VERY different prices! The Browning ones at Bass pro go for exactly twice the money I paid for it at the CT! So be smart.

Lol. I noticed the same thing! Thats why I suggested the Honeywell at costco for 399$. It's the 699$ other brands almost identical. It's a smoking deal but it's HEAVY. I think theres a thread here on CGN about it last week.

My other suggestion is this one for 499$ (if you can find it)

Crown Assets sells surplus 4-drawer filing cabinet Sargent and Greenleaf dial lock safes on auction. The price range in Ottawa a few years ago was about $350. They are tall enough to hold almost every longgun except for muzzle loaders. They have a heavy reassuring clunk on the door handle. The combo unlocking is a 5-step sequence.

Someone in govt told me that model of "secure container" was being phased out because the govt security guys were recommending a newer model.

Visit Costco dot ca then search for safe, they have a lot more choices then in stores.
They have good deals on Sentry fire proof safe, great brand at an affordable price.

There 36 guns safe is really comparable to a Browning for a fraction of the price.

Cheers.

Depends what you want and how much you want to pay :D

Canadian tire has some fairly cheap one but they don't provide any fireprotection and are a bit flimsy imo (Stack-on). But in the eye of the law, it's all good (That's what I got). They also have a few sturdier models at a higher price.

Costco has a large selection of some higher end models from SENTRY/etc.

If you own your home, you can build a "gun room" for the price of a good quality safe. Nothing like having a 12' x 14' walk-in safe, complete with internet and CATV. LOL

My guns are in two 800 pound steel safes.

Unless you were bitten by a radioactive spider & have green skin you're not going anywhere with my guns.

With Ontario cops & Crowns looking for the least excuse to charge GUNNUTZ with Careless XX charges so they can confiscate their guns & cancel their PALS I'm not taking any chances in that regard

My storage infrastructure is at least an order of magnitude above legal minimum........gun safes in locked gun room with barred windows & the whole 9 yards.

I'm used to the fact after 6 years of the McGuinty Liberals that because I own guns & don't belong to any of the special minority groups that the Ontario government is afraid of (like the natives)..........I'M THE BAD GUY !

It's a shameful example of Liberal political cowardice but they're (the McGuinty Liberals) carrying the big stick for now & hopefully not for much longer.
