Best Place To Buy Bulk .22LR

If there is a Walmart around Canadian Tire has cheaper ammo prices than a town without one. The price difference between Smthers CT (no China Mart yet) and Terrace which has both is appreciable. Just something to note. It is a personal choice to be made by each individual but spending a union pension in a Walmart would put my basic principles in question.

A couple friends and I are looking around to buy a bit of bulk .22LR. So far out of the site sponsors it seems Wolverine has the best price, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place with better prices, either online, or in the GTA.
Also, is there anywhere you can buy shorts in bulk?
Here's the chart comparing the different retailers, etc.

I check walmart every now and then. When winchester 555 packs or federal 525 packs go below 20, buy em!

Winchester Wildcats at LeBaron the catalogue just came out. A brick of 500 is selling for $18.94+tax. Winchester copper-plated a brick of 555 rounds is selling for $20.63+tax.

Fishing World in Hamilton has Blazer Lead RN 40gr 189.99 for 5250 rnds.
They do run out pretty quickly though. Last time I checked (3 days ago) they only had 3 boxes left.

My CZ455 prefers stingers, mini-mags, follow by Wildcats. Tried almost all other bulk ammos from Wallyworld, CT, and several local gun shops.
Cheap doesn't mean it's bad, 22s can be ammo picky.
I think Wildcats are Winchester's answer to the Thunderbolts.;)
Cheapest copper plated .22lr I have found is the Winchester 555 bulk packs. They are I think $22 and change from SAIL outdoors (based in Montreal).

Cheapest .22lr period is Winchester Wildcats from LeBarons. I think it was $15.99 last time I bought some for a 500 round box. Price may have gone up.

My GSG 1911 likes WIN XPert , FTE every round on ELEY MATCH
SR22 likes WIN 555
CZ455 likes Wildcats.

All hate Fed champions.
All like stingers and mini-mags.

Never buy bulk till you tried lead and plated in different weights to see what your firearm likes; Don't be brand loyal.
I've had nothing but problems from the Winchester .22 ammunition. I bought the bulk pack before (because the Federal I normally get for the 10/22 and others was sold out and I was on my way out shooting) and I was getting failures to eject and jams3 out of 10 shots AT LEAST. The next time I went to the range and I saw some 10 year old kid with his dad shooting his very first .22 rifle (Bolt action) I just walked over and placed the box with it's remaining 400+ rounds there and said "Welcome to the world of target practice) and walked away. The grin that the kid got was priceless.

Wow, sorry long story to say "I'm Never Buying Winchester .22 Again" :p

+1

I have an old Cooey Model 60 that loves Remington Golden Bullets for some reason and shoots the best groups with them. They shoot better than any CCI ammo or match rounds from Eley or Norma.

My Ruger 10/22 and Marlin XT-22 hate the Golden Bullets and shoot crap groups with them.

cabelas just had four 525 boxes, in an ammo can, so 2100 rounds, in an ammo can, fo federal copper plated, for 94$

not really cheaper, since each box is 24$ or so normally, but free ammo can !

I was there last week so may be gone by now

and yeah, some .22s are picky....

mine are not, mine eat anything (not that I have tried much besides federal or winchester bulk packs, or remmington)

One box is $21.99 the ammo can deal is 89.99 + tax so it will be more or less depending on how much tax is in your province

Walmart seems to beat out everyone when it comes to 22LR prices. Winchester 550 packs are $18.99, they are 36 grain copper plated hollowpoints.
They also sell the federal 525 bulk packs for somewhere around $23.

I have put thousands of both brands through my 10/22 with few hiccups.

As painful as it is to buy from a place like walmart they do have great prices. Also just incase I get flamed for not advocating that you buy from a sponsor or even an actual gun shop, when they match walmart prices I will be happy to buy from them.

THe winchester is crap don't buy it epic fail ammo. Always try the ammo first before you buy bulk as it can be a pain in the rear to use up allot of ammo that doesn't work right. I like the federal 525 bulk ammo most gun stores sell it for the same price or less then walmart just ask for a crate price vs box price

Yah but those ammo boxes are pretty nice!:)
I had to leave it on the shelf today. :(

Pooker,
Most of those loads don't hold good groups @ 100m
If you want to buy accurate .22lr in the GTA, try target shooting products.com (AKA North Silva Co.). They ship, or you can pick-up you order.
They sell high quality ammo in bulk at great prices.

this is from the other coast, but i have noticed here in bc the can tire sells the blazer for 29.99, while the little local shop sells it for 21.99 for the same box, or 189.99 for the case aka 10 boxes. thats the cheapest ive seen anywhere and its decent ammo, everything i have likes it. the federal copper plated seems to work well too, cheapest i see that is at can tire for 24.99. its probably not much use to you out where you live but just thought it might be some useful info, being the other guy that said his local shop offered the same deal on blazer cases.
