Best place to get 1/2-28 and 5/8-24 tap and dies

kbc tools. Their online catalog is fairly accurate for price ( US xchange + 75 cents or so ). Shipping is good with can post or dicom. They do sell some chinese but qc seems to be pretty tight. The 1/2 x 28 tap I just got is Bosnian of all places and very nice, die was Polish.

Brownels is usually out.

Amazon and ebay can be hit or miss. One ebay action had 50lb's of taps and dies from a closed business and I missed the auction by 10 bucks, but I only put my max in and if I get the auction or not I don't bid more, stops me from spending to much.

Enco - has them in lots of differing grades.

Most any full industrial machine supplier will have them, if your close to a big city may be as easy as opening the phone book and going for a quick drive.

I use KBC too. Their specialty taps (like these) are european (Polish, czech, etc) not chinese, and are of very good quality. If you order by phone, they will tell you where the taps are made.
