Best place to get an AR?

With the Norinco M4 selling for $529 at Marstar right now, that's where I would buy...

We have two of these rifles from Marstar, ZERO issues over the last couple years! TONS of fun!

Cheers

Thanks. I saw that deal and love the price. I wish they had a flattop version. I like the look of the A2 but flattop makes more sense. Thanks for chiming in as I need to hear more positive reviews on this brand.

If you can't find what you want at Phoenix, Milarm, P&D, or Wild West then the DD from Wolverine is probably the best option.
$1200 is a little on the low side for a quality AR though, you may want to up your budget to at least $1500. You can get a good AR for around $1200 but a little more goes a long way.

Good luck

I think you're right. With the ones that I've seen that would fit the bill, they're about $1500 - $1700. I don't mind spending that much, I just gotta convince the wife. lol

As the others have said the most important part is to go to one of the stores here and get your feelers on some rifles. One very important thing to remember is that the AR is not like other rifles, every single part can be swapped out for at least one alternative.

If you're interested, I can bring my frankengun to the range and let you test it out.

Hey, I'll take you up on that offer! What frankengun do you have? I'll buy my own ammo of course and I'll bring Timmies or something. I got a CHAS membership if you wanna go to Genesee or Phoenix..

The carry handle is removeable! The Norinco IS a flat top if you want it to be...

Thanks for all the help everyone. It does seem Wolverine has the best offering and deals as far as I've seen. I will check out the other suggestions as well. To all that have the Norinco, how's the fit and finish? I don't need anything real "beautiful" like a blued 1911, just wondering if it looks decent or has a cheap look and feel to it. I saw Marstar's video about how it's anodized now instead of being spray painted (or something like that) in the past...

lol thanks, I didn't read the other replies below your post before I replied to you. The Norinco is really starting to get more and more appealing now. How's the fit and finish?

IMHO, for $529, you simply can not beat the Norinco! I'm happy with my rifles fit & finish, it's NOT a high end AR, but it is an AR that WORKS!

The norc has 2 main selling features. It's cheap and it's reliable. Mine eats everything I feed it and never gives me any problems. Fit and finish are not on par with the American made AR's but I didn't buy it to look pretty in my safe, I bought it to shoot. Nothing but praise for the Norc. It's definitely a shooter :)

Ok, here's the thing, the Norinco has a stock handguard, and I want a quadrail. Wolverine has a DD for about $1600 with a quadrail. How much money will I save if I had to buy and install the quadrail later on? Is the Norinco 16"? Also, just saw a video that it's 1:9 twist, I would prefer a 1:7..

Umm, the price varies. There's somewhere between a lot and a whole bunch of rail manufacturers. I think I've seen some for under a hundred bucks, and some might cost more than the Norinco rifle does.

Here's the thread I posted about my rifle, with a parts list and cost breakdown.

Phoenix would be best, I've got a membership there. The sad thing is I've never even made it out to test fire the gun, I keep getting distracted. Send me a PM about it, or I might forget.

It is very easy to switch parts out.

Also, if you haven't considered it yet, one thing you could do is buy the Norinco rifle, sell the upper receiver and buy a new one with the barrel length and twist rate that you want. Depending on your choices you could break even on that. I think the guy who bought and resold my DD M4V5 made like $300 profit... ;)

Wild West have stock Norc and some all done up go have a look, you'll be surprised how clean they are. These are not the Norc of the past. These are the latest gen. Quality and finish are very nice for what you pay for. The one I have is very accurate also.
