Best place to get M1 Garand ammo? (Such as M2 Ball, ect)

So answer me this: what's the big deal about the plug? Like I mentioned before I've walked into shops in the US, purchased parts (after telling them I'm from canada) and never experienced a problem. Just wondering is all for future reference, I don't really wanna get myself into trouble just because I want to use my M1.

One of the sole reasons I never chased the Garand fairy myself right there.
Great rifle with an annoying requirement for specific type of an already expensive cartridge unfortunately.
.30-06 surplus is few and far between. If you do find it it's usually corrosive and you won't find it in bulk anywhere. Because the Garands are so finicky on ammo, anyone selling the real deal sells it at a ridiculous premium etc.
Used to see it here and there at gun shows at the usual gun show prices ie 400% more than regular commercial 150gr Hunting ammo lol

I got me an M14. It's like a Garand without all the annoying aspects of the design and finicky scarce ammo ;) lol Good luck with the search Sir!

That is kind of funny, because you will have the same (very similar) issues with an M14 that you do with an M1 Rifle

Anyone wanting to shoot old Milsurps that have had their corresponding surplus ammo go dry or just want to shoot better ammunition as a whole need to get into handloading.
Plugs are ok, but it is still trial and error. Why not just feed it with the appropriate ammo in the first place?

I've never had an issue with bringing firearms parts across the border before, unless it cost over my exemption, they I pay more tax.

Then you've been fortunate. The issue is not on the Cdn side, it's on the US side. If for any reason you get stopped by border patrol, etc. and you admit to having ammunition, components, etc. without a proper export permit, you'll have violated ITAR and you'll have some explaining to do.

A friendly caution is all, too many horror stories of Cdn's being targeted at US gun shows, box stores, etc.

I have the Schuster plug in mine.
It's adjustable using an allen key but I just keep it wide open and cycle the bolt by hand.
I'm target shooting only with it and taking my time ...no need for semi operation
Bought it from an EE member after placing a WTB add a few years ago
