Best post WW2 war movie!

We Were Soldiers.... Having read the original book by Hal Moore (Gibson's character) made it that much better...

Yes, except the movie ended as if it were an American victory.

The book goes on from the movie's end where they trek to LZ Albany to get picked up.

In single file, they came under enfilade fire and got slaughtered!

Vietnam:
The Siege of Firebase Gloria (1989) w/ Wings Hauser & R. Lee Ermey

Korea:
Pork Chop Hill and/or A hill in Korea (1956) Stanley Baker & Harry Andrews

Former Yugoslavia:
Shot Through The Heart (1998)

Iraq:
American Soldiers (2005) or Memorial Day (2011)

I understood 'post WW2' movies, ie Apocalypse Now.

But then it could be movie released post WW2, ie after 1945... but I bet it's not that. lol

War movie set post World War Two; Apocalypse Now.

gosh I'm changing my mind already

Since this has turned into more of a best war movie thread rather than the original post ww2 movie, my picks would have to be
saving private ryan - stupid movie, excellent graphics
band of brothers - excellent all around
pacific - see above
cross of iron - peckinpa, need i say more?
stalingrad - just cool
a bridge too far - the scene where the british field artillary advances is awsome, i'm inclined to think much of it was live fire
savior - again, just good.
all quite on the western front - both versions, we need more ww1 movies
sgt york - see above

my 2 bits.

oh, and ibtl
