My old Browning Stainless 270 loves the IMR4350..54.2 gr to be exact (loaded for accuracy...not mph) WLR primers..130 gr Ballistic tip/ Partition/ or Hdy SST's...lots of deer/black bears since 88!!

I'm having good luck with H-1000 behind a 165gr Matrix Bullet (made in Canada). I'm running 58.5gr with no pressure signs (CCI-BR-2). Barrel is 1:9 twist. MV's are about 2850fps (28" barrel).

45.5 grains of varget under a 130gr Ballistic tip is under 1.5" out of my savage 111

59gr's of H4831sc with a 130gr Nosler Accubond gives 3080fps and good accuracy from my old J.C. Higgins with it's chrome lined, 22" barrel.

my model 70 likes 58gr h4831sc w/140 bergers cci 250mag primer. for the berger 150's it really likes 57.2gr of re22 w/ fed210 primer. 140 sgk's it likes 55gr re19 and wlr primer. lots of different combos out there as the 270 is pretty friendly to load for. never could find a combo to work well with 4350 from this gun though.

I used to use a hefty charge of RL22 that sent a 130gr X BT on its way at well over 3100fps out of a 22" barrel.

My Mod 70 likes this too. I use a tad more powder under ballistic tips or partitions for 25 years or more.

For those who haven't read it, Brian Pearce did a pretty detailed article on handloading for the .270 in last month's issue of Handloader. For more than 40 years I used H4831. Today it's Re22 that gets the nod.

Nothing original - 60.0gr H4831 and a 130 gr Nosler Partition. That's been my load since I got my first 270 Win about 25 years ago.

Bringing this thread around again.

Just got a .270 with a 22" barrel and had some Reloader 22 lying around, here's what I got.

Most accurate load to date. 59.3gr R22, federal brass, fed 210 primer, 140 sst, 3150fps at 20' and no real pressure signs yet, just starting to flatten primers but no heavy bolt or case head marks.

This is the only reload, i dont use no scale, no dipper, just fill the case, tap and crush with a good 130 gr bullet 60.00 gr of 4831, OAL 3.340 and that it, accuracy and power... JP.

Anyone tried RL17 for the 270? Moosin

53gr of RL17 with 130 Sierra GK gets me 3 shots under and inch (2 touching repeatably) at 100m with my Savage 111. Good enough for me.

EDIT: Using 51gr of RL 17 not 53 (just looked at my data taped to the wall)

That's pretty much the load I ended up going with and it shoots a smidge under an inch at 100. And this is out of a crappy old Bruno.
