Best price I've seen on Springfield M1A

Nice rifle, give it a good once over and expect to do some of the same improvements that you would on a Norinco. Swap out the op-Rod spring guide for a match one, tighten up the op Rod guide by peeking the barrel and using some red loctite on it, peen the gas system splines so you have a nice tight fit, peen the barrel splines for the flash hider, and check the gas lock lockup, may need some shims to get a nice lockup. Once you get that done you'll be partying.

The Springers are generally nicer looking rifles, they do however have many of the same minor tweaks needed that the Norcs do. This would not stop me from ordering one, and that price is a great buy.

That price is almost to good to be true. That has to be at cost when you take into account the exchange rate. Not sure why they would be blowing them out that cheap but never look a gift horse in the mouth.

I had to re-read this point several times and still don't understand it.
Other than a good initial cleaning my SA M1A1 SOCOM has been flawless.....

Good score jager! Enjoy and be sure to post some pics.

I am prity sure that is a mistake never heard that being done before

folks don't need to adjust anything on these rifles unless they want to accurize them or NM condition them.
Rack grade rifles don't have those extras done to them. Rack grade issue USGI rifles didn't have peened gas assembly or flash hider splineways, nor did they have peened and loctited oprod guides.
These are features found on NM conditioned rifles, not rack grade.

now, as far as springfield rifles go..... I would check the trigger and ensure it is to spec. And most importantly of all with any springfield rifle.... the paper test on the bolt roller. Which means, you should be able to put a piece of writing paper where the bolt roller sits when it;s closed and the paper should not get trapped when you pull it free from under the roller with the bolt closed. If the paper sticks in there even slightly it means the roller is contacting the receiver when the bolt is in battery...... no good. Despite the recalls and QC for this issue alone.... it still turns up on new springfield rifles from time to time. So I would verify that on any springfield rifle purchase before hand.

otherwise, ya, that's a good price.

Yes, I was trying to make several points, and mixed up some of the points... I have since fixed the original post to what was meant to be said.. Thanks for the point checking though, don't want to mislead anyone.

Wow, that is one heck of a fire sale price! SAI M1A's are nice, and apart from ensuring proper lube you should not have to do anything to the rifle but shoot it.

What has scared me away from the M1A is the apparent lack of warranty support in Canada.Has anyone had any success dealing with SAI from Canada?

I heard the same before buying my SA but I never had the need to contact warranty support. My want for a SA SOCOM was greater than the worry.
I did the paper test under the roller when I first got it home (as per 45ACPKING) and it passed the test. My rifle has been problem free since new.
