Best price on new sako?

Just got a email from EURO OPTIC. Sako 85's with black synthetic stocks are on sale for $969 US. Even with our dollar that may be worth looking into.

Sure, and after you take into account the exchange rate, import fees and duties, taxes plus time (and time is still money)...you probably will be around at least $2000. (Can.) In my experience buying from the USA, you can just take the American price and double it in order to arrive at an approx. Canadian dollar price, door to door.

I think that if you want to own a brand new and relatively high end European rifle, you should buy it ASAP because prices are going to continue to rise for the foreseeable future.

Well that has not been my experience ROB. I have had a few rifles built in the states and it's conversion rate, shipping to I RUN GUNS, then there fee to import. Has never even been close to double the price. But I do agree it does take time and you must be patient.

Prices for June 2017 Sako stock now arriving in the stores seems to have taken a significant jump over last year. With the low .75 cent Canadian dollar and falling oil prices I can't see new guns (from Europe or the USA) getting cheaper anytime soon. When you add in the also escalating taxes, shipping and insurance, I think that a $3000. Sako is not far off and may have already arrived in some regional markets.

I love the Model 85 Carbon Light in 7mm-08. Shoots 1/2 moa with decent handloads, and is a breeze to carry. Cost of one is more than your $3,000.
