Here in Montreal, we can still pick up reasonably-priced bricks

Winchester 333 $ 13.97 at Walmart

Various budget-priced 500 bricks $19.97 at Le Baron ( when they have them in stock of course )

What are prices like in rest of Canada ?

If I look hard enough, $17.99 for 333's, American Eagle-$21.99, assorted other 500-525 rnd packs upwards of $24.99-$28.99 Here in Sask.

Funny thing....I stopped in at a small town sporting good store and they had .17hmr federal at $13.99 and hornady at $14.99. It's around $19.99-$21.99 everywhere else I look. Their bricks of American Eagle were also $19.99.

Prices seem fairly similar to out here in Halifax.
13.96 for Winchester 333s
23.99 for 500 pack (forget the make)
29.99 for Federal 525 pack
34.99 for Remington Thunderbolts 500 pack

These prices are from Walmart and Canadian Tire. Local gun shops sell for a touch more.

.22 ammo prices

Here is Southern Manitoba, the prices on Federal 525 round packs seem to have skyrocketed to $35 at Canadian Tire and a local gun shop.

Home Hardware had them on sale a while ago at $20, and a month ago their regular price was $24.

Two years ago, I cleaned out a Saskatchewan Co-Op when they had them on sale late in the year at $13, and again last year at $15 for the Federal 525 pack HP. I am still shooting the two year old stuff.

RWS lower end Target .22 ammo was $108 a carton, and Hornady .17 Mach 2 was $70 a carton. (I love that little .17 for gophers, but shoot a lot more federal bulk .22 HP ammo because my rifle likes the stuff.)

I have been buying federal 525's and winchester 500's for 12.97 this year at the local co-op but you have to buy a case at a time. Last year the same stuff was 11.97 and the year before 10.97, I now have about 30,000 rounds in stock just in case the co-op goes to city prices.

Yellow Jackets

I just picked up several bricks of 500 at $35 a brick, a case goes for $330. Cheapest Yellow Jacket ammo I've seen in years. It just happens to shoot extremely well in my new semi custom 10-22. The only thing that will slightly outperform them in this rifle are Velocitors but in Edmonton (P&D's) they are $70 per brick... :kickInTheNuts:

Those yellow jackets sure are hell on gophers...

Accuracy Plus in Peterborough has CCI Blazer, box 525 for $ 20.00. Works good in my Lakefield 64B.

Paul

Blazers seem to be quite reliable and prone to decent accuracy according to most accounts. The only negative to me is that they are (or at least all that I've seen/used) roundnose. I prefer hollow points on squeeks, seems to give a little extra expansion and destruction. I guess a guy could order one of Paco Kelly's accurizers but I'd rather just pay a little bit more and not have to screw with thousands of rounds every season. That's what my centerfires are for...

This year at our Co-op they were $14.97/brick. Last year $12.97, I can even remember 4yrs ago or so they came on for $9.97. The retail on them at the time was only $18.99 then though and I thought that was steep!!!

They only come on sale for one week in the spring though, usually May when the squeaks first start popping up.

Did you buy the yellow jackets at p&d? I just put my kid lightweight barrel and yukon extreme stock on my 10/22 and need some more shells. Looked at wholesale sports but no yj there.

I picked up a half dozen cases or federal (5250 per) at wholesale sports a few months back for $199. Not sure what the prices are lately. That was 19.99 per box of 525 ( or ten pack case = 5250rnds/$199.)

I like Le Baron on St. Laurent. Usually shoot Win. superx and they are reasonably priced there. Wish there was a Bass Pro shop around tho. Been to one in Texas and my jaw dropped, course wouldn't be the same here I guess:kickInTheNuts::kickInTheNuts:
