I'm looking to shortly add another rifle to the stable, a lever in .357.

What are the best prices to be had today for 38 and 357?

I know 38 will be cheaper overall but I'm interested in stocking up on both and I assume buying in bulk (1000) is the way to go.

These days .38 spl I see often $32 per box and up. .357 less common, but often quite close in price, like $38 per box and up.

Will these be good prices next year or two years from now, when perhaps they are $50 a box? Or will they be $27 a box two years from now?

Hard to say. I just reload now.

Reloading is likely going to be in my future with how prices are going.

So you have seen $0.64-40.76 per round? Hoping I can find those a bit cheaper if buying in bulk.

Yup. I saw some come in around that price at my LGS about two months ago. All sold out now. Prices have increased since then and availability has decreased it seems. Saw $27 a box of .38 spl at Bass Pro in Dec 2021 too. (Update: Bass Pro still has $27 a box of 38, July 2022)

I used to buy commercial reloads for about 25c each around 2016. Over the past year I see commerical reloads selling for only about 10-15% less than factory.

$32 a box .38 if interested: https://www.siwashsports.ca/ppu-38-spec-lrn-158gr-28162837.html
