Best projects for a bubba'd Enfield

Any projects you have done or plan to do like a 303 scout or a number 5 repro extra points for pictures.Not just Enfields I would like to see any resurected milsurp bubba or even a really well done sporter.

Take bubba'd LE. Remove maimed and violated barrel and give a decent burial.

Purchase new barrel in .40 caliber. Have chambered in 40/60 Maynard - which, by happy chance has almost the exact dimensions of a .303 with the shoulder and neck blown out straight.

Result? A bush gun that will flawlessly feed and extract the new rounds right from the magazine with no modifications other than the new barrel. 410 grain cast bullet at about 1800 fps, 300 grain x bullet at around 2300 fps, and light .40 caliber pistol bullets at silly velocities... Hard to feel wanting with that in your hands

OK....not from bubba....but it started out as an original LB "T" stripped receiver....and then a properly marked Lyman Alaskan scope and REL mount.

OK....it is not matching but it is pretty I think. I still have to find a Long Branch bolt for it (preferably in the 73-74L range). Can't wait to test fire it.

One word of advice though - go to Gunboards.com Lee Enfield Forum and ask around about where to find nice repro cheekpieces - the one you have on the rifle isn;t the best approximation I've seen

I have a no1 mk3* that I plan to restore ... one day ... It's more of a stocked, barrelled action really, missing so many parts it's not even funny, even the rear sight slider was violated at some point and is missing a screw !

There were at least 2 variations of Canadian cheek piece. From the pics Mario's does look Brit "melted".

Lyman's TP optics are amazingly clear. They even hold up by todays standards IMNSHO.

Another Enfield bubba project could be to replace the stock bolt with a good allen bolt and make yourself a nice takedown rifle.Weld a long steel rod to a strait allen key and stick a loop in the end so you can tighten it with a mini maglight or another steel rod.

There were a couple of experimental No. 5 takedowns. One used a large thumbwheel accessible through cuts on either side of the stock.
I recall seeing that 32TP scope at Jason's. It is a nice unit.
A current non-LE project is to make up clone of an 03A4 sniper rifle, starting with a bubba. I have a brand new barrel, Weaver 330 scope set, altered bolt. Unfortunately bubba'd 03A3s are far less common than bubba'd LEs. The Lyman Alaskan is quite a respectable scope. The 330 is a poor relation, in comparison, but it seems to be quite usable, and was certinly available in quantity at the time. Mine is a commercial scope, not a genuine M73.
Trying to debubbafy a 3 digit Savage right now. Have all the parts to assemble a rifle, but am waiting for appropriate Savage bits.

Ya I know ...the cheek piece needed work....but I spent hours on it since..comparing it to my original one on my other T and sculpting it......and I do believe it is close now....I even got the color to match the stock..... it just needs a little work to fit it on the stock more snuggly. (I'll post a new picture shortly)

It is a work in progress.......I went though Jason's box of bolts and could not find a LB marked one.....still looking....that's half the fun heh?

Lots of pictures but nothing I would call a bubba.We must have more info on the Delisle's.That is a great idea I never thought of.

These are De Lisle's that I am building using the original blueprints. The paratroop version in the picture was just the mock-up. I have since finished the proper suppressor tube, with the sling swivels on the side and added the folding stock locks to the handgrip.

There are more pictures of the first one I built in the Photo Gallery under the Enfield's sticky.

You wouldn't want to see the dozen bubbas that I bought to make the De Lisle's with, some were so "unique" that they never should be duplicated again!!

How about some before pictures.Some nonenfields too bubba cut alot of differnt stuff.Most improved bubba like the worst chop job to the most sublime sporter.I like the 03a4 sniper idea,an almost mauser in 30/06 would be a nice shooter without the ammo supply problems.
