Best quality 12GA snap caps

I use once fired hulls, cut off the crimp, deprime, and fill the primer pocket full with a hot glue gun.

Make a bunch. Sell them on the EE. Get rich and send me a fair cut for the idea. ;)

I just get a fired shell, re crimp the top then shove and old double A battery down into it. This gives it enough weight to cycle without problems. Cost=$0

The only downside would be it looks almost identical to a real shell... So just dont get mixed up and blow a hole in your floor thinking it was your dummy round.

All you guys making dummy rounds out of old hulls:

To avoid mistaking for real or worse the other way around, take the time to mark your dummy rounds.

Mark up the plastic with a sharpie, paint the brass with vibrant nail polish from your gf/wife's collection, drill out the primer and fill with with whatever(hot glue as someone mentioned is a good one)

What are your favourite snap caps in 12 GA for function and durability for loading practice and where can you buy them?

The A-Zooms I buy seem to work ok in 12g and 9mm. The 762x39s got scratched up real fast in my 858, but I don't blame the caps.

Relialble and Italian seem to have them in stock most times.

The blue-plastic things (forget the name) are garbage IMO.

I make my dummies by loading as normal using 1 1/8oz shot and filling the primer pocket with hot glue. I have 25 of these and there is no live ammo in the area when I'm using these but I do check the primer pocket everytime I use them - just in case.

If you use a dummy cut the plastic hull length in half, end is open and no mistakes made?

Works as a snap cap but it won't work for function and loading in a pump or semi (manual).

I personally use the all aluminum ones that are red in colour I think they are A-Zoom brand.

Mine are used for function checks.

I didn't say yours weren't. Yours as described above are not just cut hulls as what tracker mentioned.

I make my dummies by loading as normal using 1 1/8oz shot and filling the primer pocket with hot glue.

I think these are a the best homemade solution out there, I would be interested in comissioning you to make me a couple :D

Snap Caps: Beretta, Nickel-plated brass.

Dummy rounds: Reloaded once-fried AA's. Substitute hot glue sanded flush for primer pocket after sizing & corn-meal for powder. Otherwise, load with shot and crimp as per usual. Replicate "factory length" and shell front taper with crimp.

A-zoom snapcaps are fine. Before I had them, I just made my own.

Take a used shell, Trim the plastic at the end so it is back to its proper unfired dimentions, punch out the primer, and fill everything with hot glue.

Thats the best DIY solution in my opinion.
