I realize all/most ammo from the major suppliers is good, but do any stand out above the others.

I/m not talking the best for defence, fastest velocity, etc etc. Just who has the most consistent, best crafted, most reliable, highest quality ammo out there that we use for everyday target shooting/plinking.

You have

Remington/UMC
Federal
S&B
Geco
PMC
Winchester
Aguila
Blazer Brass
CCI/Speer
Fiocchi

I’m sure I missed a few.

I've shot quite a bit of 9mm Remington UMC, Federal American Eagle, and CCI Blazer Brass ammo over the last couple of years as a relative newcomer to IPSC because I don't have a progressive reloader. Out of those 3 brands (and to a lesser extent Winchester White Box), I really couldn't tell much difference between the 3, other than my personal pistol seemed to shoot the CCI Blazer Brass a little better, so that's what I'll choose again next time. Blazer Brass seemed to be on sale more often than others, but that's why I usually pick it.

Bottom line for me is I don't really believe there is a huge difference in casual ammo for a 9mm, so for me the best price is probably going to be my choice almost every time.

I've always found the S&B to foul my guns less than the winchester/remington/blazer/federal but other than that nothing much noticable between them

I try to shoot S&B as I have found it to be a cleaner ammo. If that is not available I will get whatever is the least expensive as I have not found a huge difference in 9mm ammo.

I’m a big fan of S&B. It’s clean, accurate and QC is spotless. It also happens to shoot very well out of my Glock 19. I’ll shoot whatever is available but if S&B is available I’ll buy it.

I have never tried Geco but was told it's very accurate . as for being one of my favorite that would be S&B . more than accurate and reliable for this guy . tried the blazer brass 115 and I don't think much of it . the old Winchester white box 115 worked well . but I'd stick with the Czech stuff . the 115 is listed at 1280 to 1300 fps if I remember correctly . I was watching Hickock 45 on youtube one time and he stated that he has found that 124 shoots to point of aim better than 115 for him . I don't think many of us has ever fired as much ammo as that individual .

buy the Czech stuff and be done with it .

I found Remington pistol ammo to be the dirtiest among the brands I’ve tried, it left the darkest powder residue. Granted it’s been probably 12 years since I bought any Remington FMJ ammo for that reason. I have bought some of their Golden Saber more recently though, but have not fired that.

For me it is as follows (not in any order):

Federal Syntech Range - significant less foul ups / residue - shoots decently, reliably
S&B - clean out of the factory - pretty much blemish free. Their QC is remarkable - there are Youtbe videos on this - every round is individually examined from a computerized machine. The rounds shoot fairly accurately
