Best Quality/Accurate SKS manufacture?

WOW, Curton, Wall to Wall SKSs! The sight of it just gives me a tingly feeling and goose bumps. What is the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) rating of that wall display? Can't imagine what your ammo cache looks like!

Next time my wife tells me I have too many toys (that's her perception), I'll show her this picture if you don't mind.

i guess you havent heard of my over a dozen safe queen SKS. :)

Surplusrifles.com did a test a while ago and they found the Norcs to be the most accurate of what they tested. Not a huge, specifically scientific test, but not hugely flawed either. They had expected the very well respected Yugo's to be the most accurate, but not so.

I used to think so as well especially in regards to fit and finish, however i have seen too many of them not being all that accurate. ..and that is comparing to other SKSs!

between my russian, Chinese D, and my Yugo i would have to say my yugo take the heap on them all!

night sights are nice on it. it is unishued and all numbers match has seen 40 rounds in it.

Yugo > Russian > Chinese that's the order!
A bunch of my friends including myself have a number of sks's and shoot each others all the time, Yugo is the most accurate, i mean think about it logically it was the last production model for the sks, with time/technology weapons always improve not get crappier

I have the Chinese version and it shoots pretty good. Best group is 2" at 100 yards but most average around 2.5" for a 5 shot "group". It shoots as good as my old M94 30-30. I find its "accuracy" to be acceptable for what it was designed for.

The steel is crap though. You need to have a good coating of oil on anything steel or it will rust. On a humid day in the summer you can watch the rust form! haha

I broke the extractor and bought a new one from Lever Arms. It continues to go bang bang bang.

Chinese factory 306 both pinned and threaded barrels shoot better out of the box than 2 russian refurbs I have. All rifles shot well but the Chinese military sks are just a little more accurate.

The Russian sks's stocks are way nicer though.

Cheers

I am interested in latching on to an SKS in the near future, and have been reading every thread I come across.

I have noticed that people think of these guns by country of origin, more than date of manufacture and condition.

So far I've seen people talking about Chinese, North Korean, Russian, Yogoslavian, East German, Romainian, Albainian, + a few others I've forgot I'm sure.

Is there a particular Brand/origin/model that a guy should keep his eye out for?

I think that my SKS('s?) will be ranch rifles/plinkers/varminters, and while I realize that most SKS are not tack drivers. the closer to MOA the better!!

THX Guys
For what you want I would suggest the cheapest refurb you can get your hands on. If it is a pretty rifle you want then pay more for no real reason. They all shoot decent. I would wait, it sounds like Marstar will have Brand new Chinese military grade SKS's soon.

The Chinese Norinco maybe not as nice as others but they are good shooters. I doubt the Yugo ones are any better. If they are better, then they must be as good as a CZ-858, are they?

I have a 1970s vintage built-for-sale norinco that shoots quite well, but friends who have similar norincos are not overly impressed. My 53 Tula rebuild shoots an inch better at 100 yards compared to the Chinese.

LMFAO, whats next, comparing whos turtle is the fastest? I own a few sks's and love them but they were desinged to hit a human sized target out to 300 meters and there are people arguing over whos is the most accurate f:P:

Buy whats cheap (all of them) they all function flawlessly (except some d's)
and have fun.
