Best quick tan?

Hey all what's the best liquid tan out there? Im out of the stuff i had and figured to try something new. I have three beavers, two coyotes, and a handful of rabbits and plan on making some rabbit lined beaver elbow high mitts with coyote trim. Any advice? I made fleece lined beaver mitts last winter and they turned out okay.... Cheers and happy holidays!

I just did a coon with this stuff, you can get it at Gander Mountain for $25.

It is a tanning paste made from powders provided in the kit, also included is an oil to soften, a cheap scrapper, some rough sandpaper and a booklet.

I am very surprised how good this coon has turned out.

How about a drunken weekend in Vegas or Mexico. Thats a quick tan. Especially if you stay drunk and outside.

I am tanning 14 rabbit furs right now with Muriatic Acid (Hydrochloric) and Coarse Salt and water.

2 days in the brine, flesh skin, add more acid and salt then 7 more days in the brine.

You can get the Acid at paint stores (used for etching concrete).

Google "tanning rabbit fur", I don't have the link on my phone but if I remember when I get home I will post it.

They have 2 recipes on the site I used and the other uses Alum but it was easier to get the Acid.

If you aren't squeamish you can use a brain tanning recipe.... just google that... turns out the best.... but kind of gross to do...

Liquitan is the industry standard in taxidermy, available from any taxidermy supply. Easiest to use too of the methods available.

I used Lutan F on my last bear hide & it turned out great. I have tried brain tan & although it does do a good job, it is messy, & more work than the chemical processes. If I get the chance to get any coyotes or coons this Winter I will try the Lutan on them too.

Fleshlight...thats a term I'm not familiar with, but if its related to what I think it is ...you only need about two inches from what I hear.
You should have lots left over for my hat I guess...

Alum is on the spice rack at your local grocery store for under three dollars. Do you live on a dairy farm that hydrochloric acid is easier for you to find?

That's not an insult, just a question. At my farm we had jugs of it lying around anyway.

$3/100g tin...........recipe calls for 2 cups total. Would be pretty expensive to use that method, trust me I tried every pharmacy around with no luck.

Muriatic Acid (Hydrochloric) is used in our industry for etching concrete for painting and we have several jugs at work, pretty common for Paint Stores to carry a few jugs.
