Best Release Agent

Your title - "best"

Nothing in a spray for me.. as far as I am concerned plain old floor paste wax... I use Johnson's Paste Wax - a big can for about $6 at Home Depot in the US.
Johnson (a Canadian Company at one time) not available in Canada.

I use Trewax clear from Home Hardware. 14 bucks a pound more or less. I did some careful calculations, and figure that with care and restraint it should last for 27,553 years at the current pace. My gunsmith buddy uses Johnson paste wax and has been using the same can for as long as I've known him. I've got a hunch that for the purpose, wax is wax. One thing I can say is that once you go floor wax you'll throw that blue crap away. Barrelled actions practically fall out of the stock.

So there you have it, with only a couple of exceptions, everyone in this thread says, "If you limit yourself to a spray, you are passing up the cheapest, most effective and just, plain, best, product; wax. For myself, I have some spray-on mold release which was given to me and it will last forever because after using it once, I will continue to use the can of paste wax which has been on my bench for the last ten years
