Thinking of new scope for 6.5Creed rifle for PRS type shooting. Shooting for fun, too old/office bound to compete. Bestreticle. Looked at new Vortex scope, BUT, hearing too many stories about quality control issue. For that kind of money I'd ante up 20-30% more for S&B or Nightforce. Horus just too busy for rough country shooting. Never had one in my hands though. Problem with everything I'm interested in besides $ is availability.

Keep it simple for your first one till you know how to utilize the retical.. P4 fine in a S&B and a MIL-R in the NF, pretty simple and easy to get along with....once you know how to use and utilize the Horus set up you will find it is very easy to adapt to and the busyness of it all really doesn't seem that at all once you understand it, you will find it rather helpful, but like always they are not for everyone as we all have different tastes on optics so for now I would try to stay simple.

Picket fence reticle of some kind.... use it as a ruler for your hold offs and to compensate for misses.

Fast, simple to understand and use.

I am very partial to the Sightron LRMOA or LRMH version... that floating dot makes for very fast and accurate aiming.

But all of the similar ones work the same.

I am no longer a fan of mildot or BDC type reticles for this style of shooting.

If you are going to pony up the extra money go to a razor gen 2. This thing is indestructible. I smashed the windage turret of 2 Barricades at my last match when my bolt jammed. It did not miss a beat. A great piece of glass that has a amazing Warranty if you ever need it.

I run the P4f but one of my shooting partners runs the H59...quite fine and very fast follow up shots with this reticle. Much better then what I thought they would be. I see one in the near future :)

love the floating dot :)
Much much finer then I thought it would be...
Quite easy to spot impacts with in the grid itself.....think I gotta give one a whirl

had a p4f as well, liked it. Now gen 2xr in the TT. Still haven't learned how to use the x-mas tree yet. I find the h59 too busy, but I don't know how its supposed to work.

Depends on the person I guess. I find I 'look through" the chaos. Should be interesting to see if TT starts turning out any new reticles.

So you can use the reticle as a sort of map layover on the target, and use it to adjust shots?

In an FFP scope, the reticle stays 1:1 with the target at all magnification. 1 mil or 1 MOA in the reticle is the same mil or MOA in the turret. Holding over 1 mil or 1 MOA with the reticle is the same as dialing it on the turret. You can measure your miss with the reticle and plug the correction directly into the turret. Doesn't matter that the distance is. 1 mil is 1 mil at 100 yards, 1 mil is 1 mil at 376 yards, 1 mil is 1 mil at 1267 yards.

Most people that knock the Horus as being "too busy" have likely never looked through one (and if they have, they've likely never shot with it or employed it as it was intended). I have the S&B 5-25 with H59 and have found it very easy to focus on the center if im dialling, and can ignore the grid below. If im shooting targets at varying distances, I find it very easy to use and manipulate the H59 grid to get the results I want.

Its definitely up to the user to decide, but ive seen too many internet experts sharing the same cliché's about these reticles. These same people had me convinced to avoid the reticle like the plague until I had the chance to shoot one over the course of a match. After that, I knew I had to have it.

OP: where are you from? If youre local to me, we can definitely meet up and you can check it out in person.
