I would not go with the 686. 357 is very long and is hard to load quickly and 38 only gets you minor power factor.
I trimmed a specific lot of .357 mag brass to 38 special length. Allowed quick reloads and major power factor. I just kept them separate from other bins of brass and no problems.

My thoughts exactly. And you know what, 130pf load with 230gr bullet out of 625 is a hell of a soft one to shoot.![]()
