Best Revolver for IPSC?

I'm getting my Ruger GP100 Match Champion machined for moon clips next week. I'll try it out in a club match or two to see how it goes. Was convinced to go 38 Short Colt too.

Has anyone tried the new Alpha Proj Czech revolvers in 9mm for shooting IPSC?

I'm curious how well they'd hold up to competition usage.

Ipsc Germany is testing the 8 minor 6 major rule. I would assume that ipsc will adopt this for the 2018 (?) Rulebook.

Im converting my 686 to 9mm for the sake of shooting one caliber in all my ipsc guns

Shooting minor just means you have to aim. I use a 686 and cut my brass to 9MM length-ish. Fast to load with moonclips and a nice round nose bullet. Softer to shoot.

Minor shooters in the ipsc matches I host or have been to have not been hindered shooting against the major shooters

Revolver is all about getting A's; major or minor is moot...The quickest guy shooting A's win. Under todays rule book I would suggest you have the best current set up but it takes a bit to make the brass/load so it's not for everybody but I still think it's the ticket.

My thoughts exactly. And you know what, 130pf load with 230gr bullet out of 625 is a hell of a soft one to shoot. :)

At 130PF a 230 is moving at about 570 FPS...a soft ball has the same trajectory...I tried it and was left uninspired. I found the 185 worked better, if I had a line on lighter I would have tried them as well however my experimentation with wheel guns is done (tendonitis)...

By all indications the global body is favoring this change and it was close on the last rule book IMO...Think about the gun sales it will create...
When this happens the 929 will immediately replace the 625 as the dominant platform. 6 shooters will be as obsolete as VHS...
As for the Alpha the jury is out as to it's durability in IPSC competition and by the time it gets a good reputation it will be holding 2 too few rounds...

Unless they start building 929's machined and chamfered for moonclips the 8shot S&W's will be the go to guns for Rev Div as these are already moonclip guns and TK Custom already makes clips for them.

An 8shot .38/.357 with a 4.2 barrel would be ideal IMHO.

Took everyone's advice into consideration. Picked up a 686 this week and should have all my gear together by the end of the month. Can't wait to get rolling with this!

I have a moonclip server for sale if you're interested in it! Spring loaded tray means that you're always pulling moonclips from the same spot, rather than hunting all over your belt.

The 929 is made to be used with moonclips. When they start allowing >6 shot revolvers in IPSC, would definitely switch over to this over my 625. Although I did just buy another 625 though lol :)
