Best Rifle Choice for Fall Caribou??

Many thanks to everybody for your help and advice.
I have made up my mind to take along my new A-Bolt Stainless Stalker .25-06 which carries a Leupold VX ll 3x9x40 Long Range Duplex scope and "ain't never been touched by human hands yet." I'm still playing with different factory loads but will likely opt for Federal Premium 115 gr Nosler Partitions.
Consensus is all of this should be the right medicine for the job.
Hopefully I will have an elk license in October and will use the trusty old .30-06 for sure!

If you are allowed in Manitoba, consider a bear license too. Some camps have some big blacks roaming around feeding on bluberries and left over parts from caribou carcasses. The largest black I have ever seen (and was later shot by our camp hand) was up in Quebec 'boo land. We wish we had taken along a license as we watched him hunker around, the size of a small grizzlie, down in a small valley at 200 yards. When I think back to that trip, I can still see him!
