Best rifle for cats?

The .300 WM surprised me Laugh2 Silly me, here I was thinking something light, fast and explosively expanding would be the answer.

Expensive way to eradicate a bunch of cats, $1.50 at a time.

Personally I think it's a trick question, the real answer is to make a pressure plate IED and lure a whole bunch in at once.

I've dumped most feral cats with my Cooey 39 over the years and have whacked a bunch using high power airguns. Beaned a few with centerfires but those were chance encounters out in the woods, not too far from dwellings. Best way to get the bastards is too set up a live catch trap in the evening (With a little bit of fish placed in 'er fer bait.) then check the trap next morning. If the vermin be in there, a simple brain shot from a .22 using a long CB will finish the job. Then ye got goodies to use in the crab trap.;)

That seems like an eminently more sensible plan then heading out to blast them one at a time with a magnum rifle.

I hate cats, always have. Near useless destructive little f***ers.

Feral cats are a huge problem. Too many get let go for countless reasons but mostly because many men aren't men today and can't deal with killing fluffy vs letting them go to be someone elses problem.

Anything from a 17 hmr to a bazooka. Kiss my butt PITA, this is reality to deal with.

We have a cougar roaming around our acreage.

Put a can of tuna on top of 30 pounds of tanerite , when a bunch of cats come to snack, take one shot.

Well Milanczar, you obviously do not know wild cats are a big problem in Ontario as MNR thinks there are over 350,000 and that is a big problem for bird populations etc.

Nice attempt at being condescending however your conclusion that it is a big problem for the bird population is wrong.

The big problem is from the type of person that shoots at cats and other small wildlife also is the mindset that can't help but shoot at birds every chance that they get.

Any birds.

Have seen plenty of songbirds shot by idiots at every chance. Some can't even help themselves from nailing every robin they see at the range trying to get a worm.

So far have not had the luck to see someone shoot a cat.

Good luck with the excuses.

Surprised anyone that would shoot cats has the courage to handle a firearm

Must be during their off days from meth rehab and child predator counseling.....

So you prefer invasive feral cats over the native wildlife they're exterminating? One of those groups are going to be wiped out, it just depends which one you want to pick.
I shoot every cat I see in the bush and not only don't feel bad about it, I feel good at having done something immediately effective to protect wildlife.
