If you really want a bolt, you can't go wrong an old Cooey. I still have the one from when I was a kid. I bought my 12 year old daughter her first rifle not long ago. Got her a 10/22 and she couldn't be happier. I made sure to pick up a pack of dummy rounds and spent several hours training her on it. IE safe handling, primary and secondary stoppages ect ect.. She shot it last weekend for the first time. 500+ rounds later and she is addicted!!
The added bonus of the 10/22 is the multitude of aftermarket goodies.. Helps if she starts to get bored, you can completely change the rifles appearance and handling.
