Best rifle you ever bought?

With the thread about everyone's worst rifles that they couldn't get rid of quickly enough, it got me thinking about which of my rifles I would never let go. I'm sure we all have a favourite 'go-to' hunting gun, and I'd like to hear about them. Which one is your most reliable, accurate, smooth cycling, beautiful, etc.?

There have been many over the years, but I'd have to say my absolute favourite is my constant companion on deer hunts, my Savage 99 in .250 Savage. It was built in 1919 (99 years old this year!), and when I first bought it, it was just a parts gun. I built a new stock for it and found a gently-used barrel just to get it back to working order, and now it shoots like a dream. I've taken a ton of deer with it, and now it goes with me everywhere.

I don't think I discovered my best rifle yet... I like my x95 and SVT40, but it doesn't have the feeling of being my best, even if I don't know what else there is. Is that weird?

Mind you I don't have a wide array of choices to compare what I do/did have.

I feel a little repetitious, but for me it’s my GSR (18.5” version).

I’ve been through many different rifles and I just can’t fault the thing.

-Stainless
-CRF
-Reliable
-Bolt action
-Laminate stock
-3 position safety
-Carbine length barrel
-Excellent sights
-Great mag system
-Super accurate, shoots every weight (110-220gr) VERY well.
-Fits me perfect

For a Range, Truck, Coastal Hunting Rifle, it’s dang near perfect.
Others may disagree or call it ugly..... meh, different strokes for different folks.

I will admit the action was not super slick right out of the box. But after 50 rounds and working the action with some Blue Magic its as slick as a ball bearing.

nice rig.

what is blue magic?

A Winchester 92 in .25-20 I bought here from the ee and gave to my dad for Christmas - after years of hearing him tell stories about the one he used to shoot with his grandpa when he was a kid. He was almost crying when he opened up the box and saw it. Not the most expensive gun I've ever bought but definitely the best.

I've had many rifles that I loved "deer"ly, many have come and gone. However, at this time I favor one in the safe, over and above my Blaser and Sako's, and that is a custom 240 Weatherby built on a Winchester CRF Model 70 action, 27" Bob Jury Barrel that is a absolute howitzer and 1/4" tack driver. A wonderful cartridge for prairie antelope, mule deer and whitetails.

I'm not a bolt action guy, but nice rifle.
