Hello Stace, welcome aboard! I think the hunting of lefties is prohibited in most of Canada. For that matter, hunting with a handgun falls in that same category. Where are you from?

You could however, use your handgun to hunt in the U.S. in a state where handgun hunting is allowed.

It is to my understanding that a compact & lightweight gun can be carried by a trapper who so desires to get the proper paperwork approved. If this is incorrect than there is a problem with the regulations of handguns and a requisition of ammendment must be in order. If anyone can help clarify this it would be muchly appreciated

A ATC *autherization to carry* a handgun may be issued t oa person who will be in remote wilderness areas while performing his lawful occupation, and the carrying of a non restricted firearm is not an option. this ATC if issued only allows you to carry in a visable holster a handgun for self defence and may only be used for self defence against "wild predetors". if i read the regs correctly

NOW the indvidual CFO's are in charge of issuing them and use thier own discretion and doing so, they also use there own interpretation of the following: remote wilderness, lawfull ocupation. for thier specific regions.

There is also a provision for Trappers while on their trap line. Intended for dispatching trapped animals.

I have a high Standard supermatic. It's got the "luger slant" type grip. Anyway, the slide release is on the right side so your left thumb would release it. The mag release is on the heel of the grip so that would work fine for a southpaw too. The safety is on the left like most pistols so that might be a problem. If you can find a used one somewhere......
