After my first thread about slug ammo, I found out that I need Sabot slug ammunition for my rifled Benelli Super Black Eagle II and would like to know if you guys had any recommendations. So far I have been looking at Hornady's American Whitetail Sabot Ammunition.

The AW is inexpensive and popular but wasn't aware they were producing it in sabot (we sell "rifled").
Sabot's are just like center fire rifle rounds, you are going to have to try a few to find out what your shotgun shoots best.
There is all manner of projectiles now available as the "bullet" in the sabot - including some "premium" or even bonded rounds (you can get a Federal Fusion bullet or a Hornady SST in a sabot as an example).
If you are keeping your shots to somewhat under 100 yards then whatever shoots how you like will be "more than enough". If you plan on stretching it out, then you may want to play with the more "exotic" projectiles.

ive had 2 rifled barrels. the first(open sights) shot everything well, 3 inches at 100 with everything I tried. the second(cantilever scope) is very picky. I have tried 6 different types of sabot slugs in it. 5 grouped terrible, 4 inches at 50 and 8 at 100 for 5 shots. the rem 3 inch accutip 385gr shoots amazing. 1.5 inches at 50 and 3 inches at 100 for 5 shots. they may not be the cheapest but with accuracy like that I keep buying them.

With the slugs you'll definitely want to try as many as possible to see what your gun likes best as even switching to a different length shell of the same brand and product line can make a huge difference.
You don't *need* sabot slug ammo. If your gun groups well with regular foster type ("rifled slugs") then have at er.
The sabot slug with a rifled barrel should give better accuracy but if regular slugs give acceptable accuracy i wouldn't bother. One thing i have noticed is sabot slugs tend to be a bit lighter in weight, while having a smaller diameter projectile and a bit higher velocities. If you are trying to stretch the limit of your slug gun then go for it, but if you plan to keep to 100yds or less I'd just get a foster slug that shoots good.
