Best scope for $1000

I have tried the viper pst, it should be called POS. if you are hunting you can't beat a Trijicon accupoint in the $1000.00 range. The only scope that has better glass is the Ziess, but no illumination. If you are shooting long range targets. Spend a little more and get a NF.

No long range for me. Maybe paper punching out to 200 yards and gophers out to 300.
Call the Viper PST a POS but if that's the truth why is it out of stock in every shop in Canada? People must really like em.

Cheers!!

Just my opinion, after having owned a pst, then a Leupold Mark 4, Zies Conquest, then 3 different Trijicon accupoints and a NF. I would say that the glass is equal in the Trijicon and NF.
if you like PST, I hope they serve you well.

my 4-16 PST actually had slightly 'duller' glass than my regular Viper, so obviously glass can vary. No longer have the PST, but it's still one of the best bangs for the buck for a tactical scope.

So why POS? What's your reasoning? Is it the glass? If that's the case, I guess Sightron, VX-3's and Nikon all fit that description?

I have Burris, Leupold and Vortex. They all add up to good value. However, the Vortex is the best value for dollar, and POS is best left to Tasco. Why get a NF, when the Vortex glass is 95% as good, and 1 MOA=1/047" all the time. Get your head out of your...

For $1K the best value is the Sightron Siii. Magnification will depend upon application but for my purpose I find the 8-32x56 LRMOA to be very, very good. Not quite NF but very close and for less than half the price.

Kind of agreement here.
I did a side by side comaprison with a friend's Sightron III and my NF/NXS.
Although my scope might be a bit more robust, when it came to optical clarity @300 meters, I give the nod to the Sightron.

Not all PST models are created equal, glass-wise...
