Best scope for a .416 Rigby?

S&B 1.1X4 X22 Short dot got one on my Benelli MR-1, when i buy my 375 Ruger this is the one for it... JP.

I would hate to get too close to my optic when shooting a .416 Rigby, that would definitely leave a mark!

Not as bad as you'd think. I got a little angel kiss from my 416 when I took a shot resting over a bag. Just smacked me enough to remind me to hold her tight. The rifle in question (M77 RSM) wears a 1.5-5x Vari-X III. I also have an identical that I keep in rings when I travel overseas. Wouldn't change the scope for anything. It's my favorite general purpose hunting scope.

eye relief on SB can be critical. dont ask me how i know because it happened to a friend who borrowed my 9,3x62 so on a 416 rigby it may be a concern ...

the Leupold would be a better choice.

My choice... VX-3 1.5-5x20mm
or one of the older model vari-x III or VX-III in 1.5-5x20mm

great scopes.. I just bought one on here last week.

Well there you have it. Leupold vx 111 wins this debate. I would bet not many have used the swarovski. The leupold it's an excellent choice and can do everything the swarovski can, just the swarovski can do everything a little bit better but most likely won't affect the outcome of the hunt. If you have the funds swarovski is better, but the leupold will work perfectly.

Nightforce 1x4 is my choice. For the odd time you need the illuminated reticle, it is real nice to have.
I also prefer having more reticle choices than what the Leupy offers especially on what is generally considered a DG rifle. The NP 1 is fast , easy to find and works well.

Alberta tactical, I agree with you and use that optic on my firearm for 0-300 yards and find target acquisition to be as fast as with my aim point comp m4. It's rugged as heck. I recommend the swaro for hunters as it's lighter and the extra magnificAtion can be helpful
