Dad bought a cz 557 in 308, I want to get him a decent scope for it. I was just wondering in you guys had any suggestions on somthing that’s under 6-700. He won’t be shooting past 500 yards… any input would be greatly appreciate
Thanks !

Love the Vortex Viper scopes in 4-12x40mm. I have 3 of them - the parallax adjustment as a turret is excellent. The scope is nice and small at 40mm so you can mount it with low rings and get a good cheek weld. I've gotten them all on sale for 429$ or less. Prophet River has them now on sale for 386$ - great deal. https://store.prophetriver.com/vortex-viper-4-12x40mm-sfp-dead-hold-bdc-moa-ret-vpr-m-04bdc/

I've got a vortex diamondback, think it's 6-24? Great out to about 400yds before the blue glint starts. Think I got it around that price off the EE.

I just made similar recommendations on another thread. Leupold Freedom in 2-7X33. Inexpensive, solid, and great clarity. Or, really treat Dad and get him a Swarovski 3-9X33 for around $850-$950.

Ooh I may be late but grab him a Trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 in green mil-dot duplex, might be worth a little extra, his eyes will thank you very much. 200 yard zero, first dot will be about 300, 2nd dot will be about 400 and 3rd dot about 500

Find a good used Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 w/ B&C reticle... within your budget and has lifetime warranty regardless of owner. Light, rugged and great glass, that will also assist with shots out to 500 yards, when sighted in for 200 yards, with the simple B&C reticle.
Other good mention above, Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 with green dot reticle. New, over your budget; but may find a good used one within budget.

Bushnell Elite 6500 series in either 1.5-8x32mm or 2.5-16x42mm or 2.5-16x50mm.

Toughest scopes I've used, built like a tank and clarity is amazing. New they were over $800 up to almost $1000. The 1.5-8x32mm has a well proportioned multi-x reticle and the 2.5-16 power scopes have a dead on Mil-Dot retical available. Used are $600-$700 and I still own 2 of the 1.5-8x32mm because of the over 4" eye relief I can shoot my 378 Weatherby without worrying about getting scoped. The 2.5-16x50mm is on my 280 Rem rifle and has been perfect regardless of hunting in pouring rain or snowing. Dropped hitting a log on the ground no change in impact.
