The best SKS scope mounts are the side mounts that are drilled and tapped into the receiver. Stay away from the receiver cover mounts.

Choate scope mount seems very highly respected by those who have tried it. It's also lighter and (I think) fits more scopes than the Russian type mounts.

I agree that only the side mount, drill and tap type mounts seem to work reliably.
