best scope mounts for Sako

Hey wookie,do know how those S&K bases are attached, Im assuming they slide into the dovetails?? Im also looking at alternative sako mounts for a new sako 85,will either be conetrol or S&K in stainless...
 
I'm bumping this thread to see if there have been ant new developments.

I have myself a new 85 (greywolf) in the heavy recoiling 375H&H and my 4.5X40 VX3 is moving in my (ready to strip) stainless optilocks:mad:..........I'm sure the much sought after Warnes and one piece ringmounts are rarer and harder to get than ever, so are there any new developments.....it is bazzar that this is even a problem.

At this point my only real problem is the stainless screw heads....of course they are absolutely a one of a kind size.

I would go with matte rings but they only come in Med height.
Has Sako been using the same size ring screws for ever (thinking about scrounging up some old screws)

Throw on a set of the Leupold ringmounts,and be done with it.
 
They have them. Give them a call, unbelievable customer service. The owner Richard is very helpful. I'm sure they will have a base and alpha mount for the Sako. I just got one that wasnt on the website. The fit and finish is superb. Definitely the way to go if you want the best.
 
I just put the base and 3 ring alphamount on my tikka t3 lite ss in 270wsm with a 30mm tube and a 50mm bell and it mounted lower than it did with the Leupold ring setup i had on it before, and it was low before.

Finding a driver is not the problem, but rather replacing the entire screw
...M3.5X6.5...not something you can get off the shelf, I even thought about getting a special order/run of them but for 100 of them (min order) they would have been over 5 bucks each and every head would have had to have been turned down to fit in the ring recess.

Another member turned me on to the Near set-up, I am just waiting for them to return my Email. They are what I am looking for, that one-piece integral base with the lower ring halfs ( i think it is on a whetherby) is sweet, if that could be designed for the Sako double dovetails Near would really have something that every Sako owner would desire. Why there is not one available from one of the giants like Warne, Tally or Leupold is beyond me, Sako has been using the same dovetails for many years.

Thanks for your input guys, I will be sure and post up some pics when I eventually get this figured out.
 
See if you can find the older Burris DD Sako mounts. I run them on a couple different M75's with these and Burris Signature rings. I can't imagine either the ring or base slipping.
