best semi 22LR

Well guys the 10/22 has a lot of plus's for the $$$$'s. I like to tinker so all the custom features available are good. I find it easy to buy along the way as opposed to the lump some ie. T/C.

The 10/22 Looks like it has a pretty good support group too.

Just wanted to thank everyone for there input. Much appreciated.

Keep the thoughts coming

I had a Lakefield 64... it was very fun... not so accurate though... functioned well, as long as you kept it clean...

Now I have a TC R55 Benchmark... WOW!!! This one will never be sold... WOW...

Here's a 10 round group (Federal bulk ammo from Canadian Tire)... I can't wait to get it out at longer distances...

The R-55 in any configuration is a true masterpiece! It is great right out of the box, extremely accurate for a semi and can take on the CZ's if the shooter can do his part. The price is well above your $500 limit nowadays new. You will need to look used .. They are few and far between.

Go to a shop that carries T/C and handle one .. you will see that you are getting a quality firearm for the money. Save the extra couple hundred and buy T/C .. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Ya just priced a new stainless version $900+ plus tax ouch:(.
Called Thompson and talked to a tech and he said no difference in accuracy between barrel lengths. He said the 18" target barrel is a larger dia then the 20 inch sporter bull and stainless bull barrel. I like the stainless cause it would be a hunter and I am also a lefty and the target stock has a right side cheek pad :(. I asked if you could custom order and that is a no go what you see is what you get.
Thought you guys might like to know.

Yes i have to agree remington 552 speed master as best Semi.

I had one a few years ago and regret selling it. im sure i will have another someday.

Accuracy was amazing, as good as my marlin rimfire hole on hole at 50 yrds from the bench was easy. Never jammed with LR or even shorts. Holds 25 shorts and cycles fine.
Bluing and construction is top notch and the trigger was easily lightened with a lighter spring. It followed the same procedure as the 1100 for dissasembly too.
THey are really cool guns that are excelent out of the box. you wont be disapointed.

wow! .. I just took a look. At least $800 plus tax. I picked up my All Weather at WSS (yuk) for $650 about 6 months ago. I just did up a 10/22 as well and it is VERY fun as well. It's a matter of which firearm presents itself when you have the money. You can always trade up or down later.

I have three or four older Mossberg semi-autos [plus a number of old Mossy bolt action 22's] At 50 yards, I would pit a couple of my Mossberg semis against practically any production semi built today, and if I didn't win, I would give them a real scare!! I have 2 - 151M's, and while they are not really "target" rimfires, they are plenty accurate, and quite reliable. I have had the odd failure to feed, but usually because of "failure to clean" soon enough.[my bad] Regards, Eagleye.

The T/CR55 Benchmarks (heavy barrel, laminate, blued) can still be found for under $500. Only thing I dont like about them is cleaning from the muzzle.

Just started playing with Browning .22 SA - as I own one its now the best :)

Seriously though, the take down feature works well, can adjust so always tight fit. Adjustable open sights / front with brass tack. Light, easy to handle, broad forend easy to hold. Internal tube mag quicker to load than charging & inserting a mag. (found it quicker just to pull mag tube out rather than load through loading port)

Went through 5 different types of ammo and no FTFs (including subsonics), with barrel off and pulling back slightly on bolt can pull the entire trigger group and action out of the receiver and strip down to firing pin without any tools... Depending on what characteristics you're looking for, this could be a "best"

Ended up ordering the stainless laminate version this week ($700), now the most expensive rim fire I own so in terms of putting my money where my mouth is... A stainless R55 is tempting too...
