Best shear strength epoxy?

OP is asking about installing a mount on a shotgun barrel. I cannot imagine drilling and tapping a shotgun barrel.

My experience with glues and paints is it sticks to everything cept where it was meant to be.
Is a barrel not offered in the configuration you wish to achieve?

Sometimes spending good hard earned cash is the best approach to the D.I.Yerselfer.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "just below the chamber". ...

x2. More information would be very useful. I can't envisge exactly where this is supposed to go. Can you post a pic?

In any case, I doubt that any adhesive will provide a reliable bond, at least nothing that would cost less than getting it done professonally. For one thing, you have a pretty small contact area, and I think that will work against you. Depending on exactly where you are putting this, you might be able to solder some sort of half-sleeve, using a semi-hard solder like HiForce 44, to the area, that is thick enough to be drilled and tapped to take the mount. (This might work with a good epoxy, too.) Or you could silver solder a steel mount to the barrel... But ultimately it may just be easier to have it done professionally.

I like trying to do stuff myself whenever possible, too. But there comes a point where "discretion is the better part of valour", as they say. :)
