Best Shell for Skeet

Yes making your own shot can be a huge saving, but I just can't be bothered to source the correct lead, then put up with the fumes, to make my own shot. And I have yet to see really high quality #9 shot from a do it yourself machine. Most do it yourself shot makers, are producing shot in the #7-1/2 range, the smaller sizes just don't come out as good as the commercial shot that I purchase.

If you don't care what 12ga load you shoot.

I reload 12ga 7/8 oz #9 at 1200fps for skeet. Good luck finding that load on the shelf at any store.
 
Sorry SJ I did not specify a month but it is indeed a month. The 5 shooters are "averaging" 3 cases a day at the club and we are open 4 days a week so they are pounding through the shells pretty well .I was also enlightened by one of the shooters pumps are forbidden :)

The obvious reason you don't find it on the shelf, is that there is virtually no demand for such a load. Anyone that wants to shoot 7/8 ounce loads at skeet, can just use a 20 gauge. I just shoot the 28 gauge and 3/4 of an ounce myself, when I am not shooting the 410 at skeet.

Well no duh, hence why I choose to reload 12ga so I can have that load.

Btw, I reload all gauges. 7/8 oz 20ga too, but the price and efficiency of Perfect Pattern powder lets me reload 7/8 oz 12ga for nearly a $1/box cheaper than 20ga.
