Best short 12 gauge pump?

I own a number of shotguns, including Remington, Winchester, Ithica and Mossberg. Most have barrels around 20"

The Mossberg works very well, it is light and has a tang safety. For that reason I would rank it #1 for your application.

#2 is the Ithica (and I think Norinco made a good clone of it). The lack of a side port is a feature. Less places for pine needles to accumulate.

I have a half case of Breneke slugs. That is the slug I would use for bear defence. Excellent penetration at any angle. Deer slugs flatten and break up. Do some research on your slugs.

Federal Deep Penetrators penetrate at least as well as Brenneke and similar style slugs, despite being Foster slugs.

Sorry.. but anybody who didnt list a Fabarm STF 12 is just plain wrong.

It undoubtedly is the best short pump out there! No joke, seriously.

I think so too, but IMO it's too nice to use as a bush gun like the OP was asking about.

It might be a really good gun but it's ugly as hell.

I have a 14" SDASS and think it's ###ier than the STF 12. Although I've always hated how much the stock comb drops in relation to the LPA sights.

Budget concerns, or not, drive this decision for most. I would like to spend $1K tax in on a semi-custom shortie, but that’s not my budget. I have a Canuck.

I have a fabarm (not the STF12) I’ve had in the bush for a couple yrs now and it’s held up great, they’re really durably finished guns, it’s has seen thick bush, rain and snow and looks the same as when I bought it.

Sorry You cannot convert any barrel to the 590M it comes as is only

But there`s the SHOCKWAVE available in 18.5``barrel and legal
