I now use Winchester #8's in a 23/4 dram load, 1150 fsp. It is a relatively light load and works well for singles and handicap. I use to use #71/2 3 dram and it really did not make a lot of difference. Others may have a different opinon but many guys at the 27 yrd line use the same as I do and still win competitions.
The best all round clay target shot size is #8. There are enough pellets to ensure pattern density and enough energy for the longer shots. It's my choice if I'm limited to only one shot size.
I've been using Winchester Target loads in #9, because WS always seems to have them on sale by the case. They work fine, although you might have trouble with some of the long shots.

If I had to choose just one load for 12ga it would be a 1oz load of #8's between 1200fps and 1250fps. That load will do anything asked of it in all clay sports. Currently though for 16yrd trap, skeet and alot of SC shots we use a 1225fps 1oz load of #8 1/2's and for handicap trap and long SC shots 1oz of #8's at 1290fps. I shoot my handicap at 23 1/2yrds and my son at 20 1/2. He's used that same load back at the 27 yrd line though and ran them straight with it. The only time we use #7 1/2's are in the winter for some long range games we play for our "meat shoots" or fun shoots. Then we'll load up 1 1/8- 1 1/4oz of #7 1/2's at 1275-1325fps. Those are for shots from 35-40yrds behind the trap or basicly 55-60yrd+ shots.
I've been useing the Kent All Purpose Game and Target for a couple years now and only good things to say about them. Feed and function fine in my 391's and great on Sporting Clays, skeet and trap targets. Ill usually carry a box of my reloads in #9 at 1200 FPS to use depending on the target presentation.
#8's best all around size for sure. I use 3 dram loads in my semi's and 2-3/4 drams in my double guns. #9's in 7/8oz 20ga loads and 1/2oz 410's. #9 will work for all skeet shots and #8 will work for just about everything else.
