So I sold my ATRS thinking that's it, I'm done with ARs. Then I went into the gun store and fell in love with a full sized AR with the A2 rifle buttstock.

I've spent some time going pages back in the black rifle section, google searching and exploring through other forums, but I've only managed to find an occasional picture or mention of a single point on a 20" AR.

I was looking at brownells that has a really nice single point adapter that gets sandwiched between the buttstock and the lower receiver giving you a nice, clean connection point. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=31829/Product/AR-15-M16-A2-SINGLE-POINT-SLING-ADAPTER

I'm a little concerned that a single point would let the 20" hit the ground, even with my height of 6'1".

I've found that two point slings tend to move around on my webbing and ends up stuck on the velcro section getting frayed, but that was with my CZC858. I've got a three point that fits this rifle and a three point for my m14 and I hate them both, they are comfortable but there is always that extra strap in my way.

I'm like the single point the most, because I think it will give me the cleanest looking setup on this rifle. It has the standard front hand guards and I don't want to put a wrap our two around the guard to make a nice connection for a two point unless I have to. I'm not interested in the "stock" A2 sling. I just don't have enough experience to know if the single point will work or if I'm going to end up smacking my muzzle into the ground.

AT 6"1, you will be able to walk without it hitting the ground on a single point, but it will be close and if you lean over, pick up brass check a target etc. it will go muzzle into the ground. I am 6'3" and it is tight, hitting somewhere on your shin. Also on a single point because it is so long it swings around quite a bit and is annoying when moving.

I ran a single point on my 20" with a Magpul UBR stock for a couple of CQB matches last year, got annoyed and went out and bought a 10.5" upper.

So it is doable, but it is not ideal........

I guess the next question is, is there a way of setting up a two point sling that attaches cleanly to the rifle with some kind of clasp or what have you?

Guess this is what I need!

NC - I'm just under 6 feet and my 20 does not hit the ground when standing. Don't bend to pick up stuff on the ground, squat with forend resting on you weak side thigh, pointing down range of course. Get something with bungy if you can, helps take the shock of dropping and walking.

Oh, and Farmboy will be by this thread soon to mention the Vickers two point. "It's the only option" :) Just sayin'

My AR is similar to yours, and I have to get the adapter for my Vickers sling. The Vickers isn't designed to work with an A1 or A2 buttstock.

i run a magpul ms2 sling it can switch between single and 2 point i have it on my xcr and i have no problems with it hitting the ground the only thing is you will need a reciever end plate with a sling mount

If you decide to go with a 2pt sling then I recommend you google Boonie Packer. Pick up the 2P TQA ($16), 2P rifle converter ($5) and the silent front sling mount ($8). For $30 shipped you'll be good to go.

Actually, I'd check them out even if you go with a 1pt. They have got to be the best bargain for well thought out, practical slings.
