Of the various makes, both currently in production and out of production-what would your choice be for a single shot shotgun,in terms of reliability, function and value?

Just wondering, why a single shot?

For grouse:
My .410 IGA cheapo (150 bucks) works great.

But my 20g Beretta 391 is a beauty to shoot and handle, with choice of chokes, and 3 shot mag for hunting. Excellent on the clays too.

Cooey 840. You just have to get the plastic hinge peice replaced on the back of the forestock. My gunsmith had a bag full of metal ones. It is a perfect gun now, and it was cheap too.

Cooey, with barel cut off at 20". I carried one for years in my airplane survival kit. had several kinds of ammo (slug to #9) plus the Winchester flares. The big thing tome was a gun that could be operated with a single hand, in case I broke a wrist on landing.

Only made two forced landings and neither required the gun - but I know it woudl have worked. it now rides around in the back of a friend's Bonanza.
