Best sling for sks?

I would get one of those if I didn't have original one:

Blue force gear. I have one of their AK slings (albeit on another gun) and they're bomb proof. But as far as my SKS goes, it wears the original Russian military sling it came with. They're really good and you should be able to find one for cheap.

I've had good luck with 'note-book' shoulder straps from Sally-ann, $5-10 for the whole thing, then sold the notebook pak for $5 at yard sale. Look for Samsonite cause they have a really good shoulder-pad -that's what I have on my current SKS-Tapco, but it was on my other 51 Tula wood stock before this.

I do believe Trade-EX sells the slings for a sks, they’re a good bunch to deal with. Congrats on getting a sks, its an unbeatable deal and quite the rugged platform.

Don't mean to hijack but how are those Chinese slings with the leather strap to attach to the rifle?
I have the Ncstar copy of it and the straps come off when I sling the rifle over.

The newly made chinese sks slings are cheap junk. You can feel the fake leather straps stretch when you wrap the sling tight on your arm as a shooting aid. I ripped them in two just by hand. So i wouldn't trust it to hold a heavy sks bouncing around on my shoulder. The strap itself is ok though. I stitched mine into a useful sling without the garbage tabs at each end, for a different rifle.

The original russian sling is certainly durable. But its rather stiff, when being used as a shooting aid, and the metal clip at the end jingles like a bell.

I use a surplus vz58 sling on my sks. Its a little thinner but I like it.

When I was in the middle East year's ago, the SKS was used as a truck defense gun, because there were so many of them
What they did was put , what looked like, a big stainless steel key ring through the barrel sling attachment and used AK 47 slings without the hook attachment
They also used heavy SKS slings with the ring on both ends
Seemed to solve the issue, didn't understand why the took off the bayonets

Since y'all are reviving the Z-thread - I use shoulder straps off Laptop carry-bags that I buy at Sally-ann for about $5. Then I sell the bags at Yard sales. Scored a Samsonite bag and the strap from that is on my '51 Tula-Tapco-SKS; it has a great 'shoulder-pad' about 8" long by 3" wide. I use the 'barrel-down' carry that's much faster on-target than barrel-up.
PS - The suede on the cheek-pad is the 'upper' from an old Sorel boot  And White appliance touch-up enamel on the iron sights.
