Best solvent to clean Corrosive ammo from a chrome lined bore If not using water.

water is free and available everywhere. Don't over think it. believe it or not but water is pretty good at dissolving salt. Dont believe the windex hype. Use boiling water an old tooth brush,a bore snake and any gun oil. you will never have any rust. If you dont have time to clean after shooting corrosive you shouldnt shoot corrosive. the 1200 round norinco crates from can am are definetly not corrosive btw.

Water or Ballistol...or both. That's what I tend to use. Cleans it out right good.

^^^^^ This...G96 after the boiling water treatment. Put it away wet with G96 and clean it off before you shoot it = no problems.
5 Gallon pail, disassembled action and barrel in the pail, pour a full kettle of boiling water through action, chamber, barrel, gas/piston areas. Do that and let air dry, follow up with a dry cloth and then spray it down with G96 and a couple of patches down the barrel and gas tube = done! and a gun that will never rust.
Come on......who doesn't like the smell of G96? Puts me in a good mood whenever I smell it.....means I'm close to a gun

I've tried every "solution" under the sun. The only thing that really truly works is boiling water. It evaporates so fast rust from the water is a non issue, normal cleaning after the water and you're set.

Solvent is only slightly soluble in potassium chloride. Even cold water is way better. The hotter the water, the more soluble it is with potassium chloride. You can use solvent but you will be spending much more time cleaning your gun than the person who uses boiling hot water. Also more patches and more cleaner = more money. Plus, the hot water flushes away the salt its dissolved while your patch will leave much of it behind.
Whatever you use for cleaning corrosive ammo residue must have water in it; no other solvent comes close to water in dissolving potassium chloride:

If you're concerned about the after effects of cleaning up with water, Ballistol can form an emulsion with water. The mixture will do a better job of cleaning carbon fouling and will leave behind an oily film to protect from corrosion.

hot water with the laundry soap that is left in the bottom of the bottle that the wife can`t get out. use that for BP as well. then finish cleaning and oil with your preferred poison as normal
