Best stripped lower for first build

Hi,

I know this is discussed pretty much daily but I am looking to slowly build an AR to eventually replace my Norc CQA. Mainly for a nicer fit and finish rifle. How are the NEA lowers or should I look elsewhere?
 
There are many good choices. I have put together several and have found Spikes Tactical to be great.

The only thing you need to be concerned about when selecting a lower is parts compatibility. The lower has nothing to do with accuracy and upper/lower play shouldn't be your first concern.

Most big players will ensure that you don't have a problem. Colt, Stag, DD, LMT, PWS have all served me well.

Stay well away from NEA. While some sing their praises, their dissatisfaction rate must be the worst among manufacturers (if you believe the interweb). They are famous for having loose and/or tight tolerances. I've only seen one NEA come through my courses NOT have a problem. They are not worth the potential problems. I have also worked on several problem guns and found their parts and receivers to be out of spec
 
Stay away from Norinco and NEA and you shouldn't have any troubles.
I've used NEA parts and had no issues but there have been too many reports of out of spec parts for me to recommend them.

Aero Precision is probably your best bet for staying on budget and ending up with a nice rifle. Saskatoon Gunwoorks sells them and you can order different colors for a few dollars more.
I am also a fan of Spikes but it really doesn't matter much since most of the brand name milspec uppers and lowers are all made in one of a very few forges then they are sent to the companies for finishing and branding.
 
If you wait a week or so Saskatoon Gun Works will have aero restocked. They give you a deal on an upper if you buy a lower. They're probably one of the best, very strong aluminum.
 
As long the dimensions are correct, and the holes are in the right places, a lower is a lower. It's pretty much irrelevant who's name is on it - odds are high that if you put 2 lowers from different brands side by side, they came out of the same forge anyway. I've never seen an aluminum lower fracture and don't personally know anyone who has.

This. Aero Precision = ISO9001 manufacturer of in-spec AR parts and are the most affordable option that is in-spec consistently.

I use these for most builds. Never had a bad one yet.
 
Thanks for the suggestions! I do want to keep in within budget but am planning to build it over a long period of time, keeping an eye on salea. Aero Precision seems like the way to go!
 
I used a NEA lower with an Aero upper for my first build...Problems I have had-0. They fit together like a glove...is my experience with NEA unique? Can't honestly say only having one build under my belt. I just cannot see spending big money on a lower, my next one will probably be an Aero though.

Presently There isn't much in the way of in stock Canadian lowers so you maybe limited to what is available as apposed to what you want. Aero, Spikes, LMT (all forged), DLASK and ATRS billets (good but expensive) are all good with NEA (in stock at SFRC) bringing up the rear. Questar has an excellent in stock Tactical Innovations - T15 BDX AR-15 Billet Machined EDM Deluxe Stripped Lower which is a good foundation for a good Rifle. Another option is IRUNGUNS which has a couple lowers that can be imported from their US store.

My Rainier lower is easily the nicest lower I've seen. Finish is superb. Tight tolerances. Fully ambidextrous.
