I am setting up a M14/M305 i own atm.
I'm looking for some decent Glass for it currently without investing too much $ into it.
Now I know the M14/M305 isn't exactly a sniper rifle I have more accurate rifles as-well This is not lost on me . But I want a scope with turrets to do wind adjustments and elevation adjustments just for the immersion factor and fun factor of doing it.

My budget is ball parking 500$ for the scope Id just rather not spend much for on glass for this particular rifle.

I was looking at the Redfield Battle-zone scopes thinking since they are a sub brand now from leupold they might be decent and look decently priced, but then i heard some remarks about their quality being not so great.

Questions like this have likely been asked before but i went back about 10 pages in this subforum and found no real answers , Also i'm looking for Current opinions as scopes and prices change yearly.

Just wondering what options people may have on this.

I've been out of the scope market for a good 5+ years so their may even be new companies that have come up now that i wouldn't know about.

so lets here it.

thanks!

The classic option is a bushnell elite 3200 10x fixed.
Usually around $200 on the EE and about $300 new.

Bushnell has revamped their line up and changed the model names but I believe it now has a no nonsense lifetime warranty without paperwork which is nice.

Looks like its in stock at amazon ca

I did say ballpark.
and lol crap i just bought a bunch of brass from mystic precision.
I should have looked at those sightron scopes more i guess.

Any particular reasons most of the recommendations are fixed power 10's i understand they have less lenses in them but any other reasons i may not know about?

The 5-15 bushnell may be a option and i could actually use it hunting @ 5x as-well which is a fairly forgiving amount of magnification for hunting and fov ect imho.

Mostly this gun will be for range shooting scenerio's though . likely 500+ yards if i can get things dialed in reliably.

The Burris E1 3-9x was on sale at Reliable during their sale for $240. Etched ballistic reticle, 95% light transmission and there are turrents under the caps. These are a nice improvement to the previously excellent Fullfield II scope. Worth checking out. They are my go to for decent less expensive 3-9x.

I have the Bushy 5-15 on my SPS Tactical for learning presicion shooting and its not bad, I believe it is much the same as the 10x optically, so it was a no brainer at the price I got. The next step up I believe is the Vortex Viper HS-T around 750 before you reach the PS-T, Sightrons, Bushy Elite 6-24x at the grand mark.

Millet LRS

I had the Millet TRS (baby brother of the LRS) and I have nothing bad to say about it. Held zero and glass was pretty good, didn't break the budget, has lifetime warranty via Bushnell. They were large in overall size compared to scopes of the same magnification. I wouldn't hessitate to buy one if on a tight budget.

Not to be a stuck up but its likely i would never put a subpar scope brand on this or any of my rifles and by that i do mean NCstar and similar brand's.
perhaps a SKS , 22 or other low recoil rifles but mine are already sporting leupold's and redfields respectively.

If it was a Fixed set it and never touch the turrets again type application I also might be less apprehensive about something like that but since i will be using the Turrets actively when needed Im going to go with something reliable, I've heard horror stories about scopes that don't return to zero properly with cheap turret systems , or stop adjusting properly in general and i honestly dont need that.

I assumed 500ish $ would get me a decent entry level turreted scope that would/should be reliable There is a chance i may have to go a bit over that price But Id rather not spend far to much money on glass for this rifle , End up the glass is worth more than the entire gun , upgrades and all lol and im trying to avoid that.

But i still want to spend enough $ that i'm not being a tightwad cheapskate either and end up with subpar glass.

I got a as new zeiss terra 3-9 set in a warne 1 piece skel mount if you want OP . It's clear bright glass with no fancy bells or whistles . I mounted and used it one on my Kel-tek RFB but I have been playing musical chairs with my optics and now the zeiss doesn't have a home

If this isn't your cup of tea I would suggest looking at similar scopes that are more meat & patato's Vs gimmicy ones -- sometimes back to basics scope preform better IMO
