I have an M&P15-22 and like it very much. Quite accurate. The only difference in operation is that the charging handle has a much shorter stroke than the "real" ARs. Triggers are the same though (put in a RRA NM 2 stage if you want), the other controls are the same... It's a couple pounds lighter than a .223 AR as well, until you toss optics/bipod/hider/lights etc on it.
Love being able to stand at the range and shoot for a couple of hours and still have only dumped $20 worth of ammo downrange!
How much for a .22 conversion for your 10.5" CQB version AR?
That being said- I think with all the bantering and yelling in this thread, I've settled down to two choices- the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 or the Mossbery 702 Tactical.

Just curious as to where the definition of tactical rimfire blurs but... does a 10/22 with Marauder belong in this discussion?
If I recall correctly, the intent of the SR-22 was to replicate AR ergonomics. Granted there are some differences in terms of the operation of the firearm (mag release, charging handle, etc), once you've loaded the firearm and are starting to pull the trigger they should be similar enough for basic handling.

There's abit of a grey area as to the term tactical rimfire .
If it has that , todays military look to it , be it the combat type styled rifle or the sniper . The Marauder kit fits right in.
It's all about "looks".
Take a stock 10/22...paint it black , camo or whatever , add a red dot , hi-capacity mag and maybe put on a picatinney rail , or two...and there ya go..a homeboy tactical

Tactical enough? There are lots of people using suppressed .22's for various reasons. In fact, the reason why our 10/22 bull barrels are threaded isn't so you can put a awe-inspiring muzzle brake on them.
I'm glad everyone who bought an SR-22 has sunk hundreds of dollars into mods and upgrades. What were you thinking!? If you wanted rails, cool stocks, etc. the ISSC was the way to go. Yes, Ruger has a great platform to build and trick out but did you really buy a .22 to sink over a thousand dollars into it? Have my ISSC with Burris Tactical Red dot and shoots excellent with bulk ammo, Quad rails throughout, adjustable stock and comb, extra mags, 6 position charging handle, and true AR thumb switch for safety, not a cross bolt. Shoots out the 10 ring all day and with a solid 22 shot clip. I am happy with mine and would challenge any 'stock SR22/10-22' to shoot the same. Mossberg doesn't interest me at all. I saw a red dot on top of the carrying handle and had to laugh.

The ISSC MK22 is relatively new to Canada (only available for a couple months). Many of the reviews are negative so far. Most people are seeing better results when they loctite the screws on it. The 10/22 has been around for more than 50 years. It is a proven platform and the upgrades are pretty much endless, you can build a 10/22 using 0 ruger parts. The 10/22 is reliable and easy to operate. You would be hard pressed to find another semi-automatic .22LR that has the reputation and durability of a 10/22.
Id be willing to bet a stock SR-22 would be as accurate or more, considering the MK22 has a pencil thin barrel covered by the shroud you see on the exterior. The bolt has how many pieces? Have fun cleaning that.
Any gun will shoot in the 10 ring all day if you're shooting from 5 yards. (You didn't specify distance or show a target of your results)
I'll agree they look really nice, but would I trust my life with one, no.

You know what I rather shoot the .22 all day long.... Cheap and fun...
My SR 22 is almost at 1000$ with the rails from dlask and the Heavy 12.5 barrel and levang comp and since its a .22 I got all the fake magpul koolaid for cheap on ebay...
