Scope has a 4MOA dot. Target suggestions for zeroing rifle at 100yds? At 100yds the dot fills aregular 100 yd target completely.

To be clear, my question is about Target selection....6" white bulleye, 6" black square . 8" black diamond, white 8"paper plate on brown cardboard backing sheet, or???

It comes down to a personal preference. Try and find what works the best for you.

I would treat it like a apeture sight. Find a target that you can have equal amount of target sticking out around the dot with maybe lines for crosshairs.

Are we talking red dot sight or scope? My rifle with a 3moa dot sight. I just use a 8inch black circle on a 8x11 sheet of paper.

I print an inverted black triangle on an 11"×17" page for iron sights.

POA is the bottom apex of tge triangle.
Thanks. But how do you print it. With my printer using that much black ink would cost me a small fortune. I'll look around and see if I can buy some black paper.

Print off one, then goto staples or other copy places.

Or take cardboard and cut a triangle in a piece for a stencil and use spray paint.

What 100 yard targets do you use where a 4 inch circle covers the whole target?

Boxhitch's comment is relative to your search for a suitable target.

If you want to center the dot on the point of impact at 100 yards then a large circle that is easy to see (good contrast) will work well.

If you want to do a six o'clock hold then an inverted triangle like Geo suggests might work better for you.

What firearm and calibre are you sighting in?

how many do you need? 10's 100's ?
Dollar store paper plates can work, with a contrasting background

so many needs and wants with so many solutions
It helps to get good input by giving good info

As an option, I get Dollarstore posterboard and draw targets with magicmarker. An inverted triangle drawn with 1/2" lines is visible at 100, and you could get several on a posterboard. I then use 'mailing labels' from the same store (ca 75x 2x3" @ $1.25) to 'patch the holes' after use. Lasts till the poster falls apart. Also, several Large " + " can be drawn, or whatever you choose.

Dollar store has various sized 'dots', too. 3/4" pkg of ca 350-dots for $1.25, and also some ca some 1/4"- But sorta hard to see for 4-MOA red dot @ 100-yds.

Thanks guys! I found some large Green bullseye target with a 12" green bull. It may just do the trick. If it works the 6 I bought will do the trick for years. If not, I guess I'll have to gety crafty.I bought the targets mostly to support my LGS as I never buy anything there, either they don't have it or the prices are way too high.
