Best thrower for recreational use

I currently have two cheap throwers (the $50 ones that have the legs that you can either stick into the ground or mount on a tire). They are okay but really lack the power to throw proper doubles and they aren't very adjustable for different angles and heights.

So I'm looking for a new thrower. I read one thread about the Trius 1 step which everyone seems to like. The other thrower that I've been looking at is the Do-All 3/4 #### single or double.

Any thoughts? Money is not unlimited but I don't want to buy something cheap that I'll out grow quickly. Are there any other makes/models that I should be looking at. The primary reason for the thrower is just for fun and to improve my skills for upland bird hunting.

But where specifically? For example, I am in Toronto. It would be great to go a place where I could set one up and do some shooting with friends for a few hours.

Obviously not in Toronto itself. But are there places people go within a hour's drive of Toronto where I could use this?
 
I own 66 acres of land SW of London, Ontario. That is where I'll be using it. But as Onagoth says you can use them anywhere as long as you're conforming with the various laws. If you know anyone with some rural property/farm land that would be a good bet.

Short answer...there is nowhere near Toronto that you can shoot without knowing someone with some private property. There is not much (if any???) crown land in the GTA and basically any you do find would likely fall under a municipal anti-discharge by-law. Clubs are our only real choice.
 
Curious about opinions on these also, as I'm looking to get a thrower this summer. The One Step seems perfect if there's nobody around to load & pull, but if there's something better it would be good to have choices.
 
Last year I picked up the Trius One Step at Le Barons.
Would you believe they had a couple in stock.....under $100
I have used it a couple of times. Works great.
Can be used safely by yourself, but I like the buddy system.

Me and a friend have been using the Trius One-step for about four years now and it works great. It is easy to #### because the spring tension is set when you step on the foot release. As an added bonus to throwing singles, doubles, and stacked-doubles, it also throws triples quite well. Good fun with a pump gun.
 
Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like the one step is what I'm after. I like the idea of being able to throw traps for myself. Price is right too. Either going to have to make a road trip to LeBaron's in Mississauga (old stomping grounds) or order online.


biathlonneil : I know where the Delaware Gun club is. I live about 5 minutes down the road in Lambeth. Are you suggesting I might be able to pick up a thrower from there or join the club?

I picked up a used trap machine, and added an automatic thrower this year.
