Just bought a pick-up for beating around the back country. Now I need a gun to go with it. Was thinking of getting another Marlin 1895 because its so damn fun to shoot plus its the perfect size for quick in and out situations! But want some other opinions. So, what is or would be your truck gun?

A shotgun will always be your best bet, unless you live on the prairies... 18" barrel works well.

Keep some slugs, 00 buck-shot, & #4 bird-shot in the glove-box. Cover all the bases.

Sporter enfield. Loaded mag stored out of gun. Best $125 truck gun you can get. As long as the barrel isn't shot out.

A pump shotgun is also a good choice as stated above.

+1

The 12 gauge will do for everything from putting down a deer after a collision, to fending off zombies.

Ive got a Rem 700 Ti that has the 22 inch barrel on it and i love it on the hill and in the truck .... The model 7 is even shorter with a 20 inch barrel. something to mill over

A short barrel gun with a clip for quick loading and unloading. Caliber, the one you prefer. I would love a Remington 7400 carbine in .308, that would be my truck gun.

I have a Cooper M38 in 17 Rem FB that's just about perfect for length and weight. Good for crows and stuff.

not if the target is a yote at 50+ yrds out.

Thats better....

I also think if he was looking for a shotgun he would be in the shotgun section. For a quick handy rifle to get out and get off that quick shot, I still say a Ruger #1, followed by just about anything with a DBM.

I don't have a truck gun... But, if I was looking for a gun that I wouldnt be concerned about the dings etc, a sporterized Enfield would fit my bill perfectly!

Cheers
Jay

Bolt gun with a detach mag is cat ass for a truck gun. The worst are the falling block action single shots, B-78, Ruger #1. Anyone that's tried to get a second shot off with the barrel pointed up out the window knows what i'am talking about, it takes 3 hands.

If all your ever going to do with your truck gun is ground pound ditch birds, the shotty is calling your name.

Best TRUCK gun I got is the 50 BMG kills any truck, anywhere, anytime!!!!!!Laugh2 As with anything though, shot placement is everything.

As far as carrying a firearm in my truck it depends on the season, winter is a 243 and hunting season is usually my 350 in a Mod 7 KS.
